Looks like mgm are attracting so many new fighters to their stable, along with ex recruits from other stables. They are getting a very good reputation for good hard match ups for their fighters, alas attracting the boxing punter to their shows in good numbers. I think they will have around 12 or so shows on in a season, and so far they look very good matches. I like the way they go about their business , the match ups, the ladders they are giving their boxers to climb, good value for money shows in scotland, which is always a good thing for the boxing enthusiast and casual punter. I think sam has a great vision in place, seems honest and reliable to the stable, and it looks like a lot of fighters in the country are queing up to be part of the stable. Great work by the team, boxing in scotland will continue to flourish with mgm I beleive.
Yes definitely attracting the majority of fighters up in Scotland and are starting to match them more competitively after a couple of years of most of their cards being one sided. I guess that was down to signing up a lot of novice guys in fairness though. Been to a couple of their shows at Meadowbank and the production standards are pretty high, very mathcroom-esque despite being small hall. Can't see them putting on 12 shows a season but would welcome it!
Well there is an awful lot of drug money to be laundered! Can't understand Kynoch getting involved with this mob to be honest, is/was he not a corporate lawyer or something? As a side question can anyone name a decent fighter who has used MGM Marbella as a training camp recently & actually won a fight BJS apart who stank the place out & was fat?
Saw some highlights from the most recent event and Steven Tiffney looks the real deal so hopefully he is kept busy this year. Also heard mgm have 12plus events planned this year which is good for keeping boxers busy and for fans!
Heard nothing but good things about the scotland setup and they had their own gym and sam promoted shows before being mgm so dont know why you would try to be negative about people doing good things for the sport up here!!!!!
Yep, minimum 12 shows for the year. Next one is Impetus at the Paisley Lagoon which already has a few cracking fights confirmed. Michael Roberts vs Guillermo Avila just recently announced. Iain Butcher vs Gyula Dodu Jordan McCorry vs Ryan Moorhead (Both men are with MGM, McCorry is trained by Peter Harrison, Moorhead trains at Derry Mathews Gym) really good fight. Gary Cornish is on it as well. Also, recently announced that Tommy Philbin will fight Grant Quigley in June, that one will be a cracker. Tiffney was excellent the other night. Really? Less than a year since a man was shot dead @ an MGM weigh in in Ireland in front of women & children They do nothing "positive" for the "sport" it's all about the money laundering & anyone who thinks different is deluded in my honest opinion, as far as the matchups they're making go aye that's really the way to go matching relative novices against each other so early in their career is not the correct way to bring on your fighters if you actually have their best interests @ heart...MGM are crooks, drug dealers & gangsters end of & shouldn't be allowed to be involved @ all in any "sport" That's my honest opinion & nobody will change that, certainly not short term anyway..oh! & I will point out I am Scottish, I live in Scotland & have been involved in boxing for many years & we could do without their likes here thank you very much.
You need to calm down. MGM were the victims of a shooting - not the perpetrators. Although I must say it was a very professional 'hit' - if they managed to hit the target in a room full of women & kids - all those screaming brats can really spoil your aim!! In any case MGM are pretty much banned in Ireland- greatly to the detriment of Irish boxing and boxers sadly. Great job by the Irish 'authorities' - threw the baby out with the bathwater.
BawNut is clearly a spammer. Not worth debating with. Name change looks to be true! Saw a release saying it was because of the mgm in vegas!!!
He's out on March 11th in Edinburgh, hopefully, another step up. That was his first fight since May last year after a couple of injury setbacks and probably the best I've seen him. Would like to see him vs Paulin personally.
