This place spears to be masquerading as a pro gym while at the same time the chap running it is operating these white collar joke shows. How can anyone expect to take the place seriously? Every tom **** and harry calling there self a boxer because they have attended a training session is terrible for the sport IMO.

Fail to see how it is "terrible for the sport". From what I've seen on Twitter/Instagram, their upcoming show is featuring John Thain and David Brophy as well as debuts for the likes of Ross Henderson and a few others. This is offering a platform to Scotland's pros outside of the usual Gilmour/Morrison shows. Competition between promoters can only be good for the sport up here and will perhaps give some of the old guard a boot up the backside to give better value for money when putting on some of their hotel buffet efforts.

If your issue is with the white collar side of things, whilst I don't necessarily agree with this format, maybe this was just used by Kynoch to get his foot in the door. Again, I've never met any of the MGM Scotland lads so I have no idea, just a thought.

People go to these white collar 'training camps' then they think there a boxer, it's an embarrassment.
If he was using it as an in he surely needs to stop now? Never heard of another pro promoter taking part in this stuff.
I hear you regarding getting the old guard to up there game. Brophy and Thain fair enough but I think some of quality that will be on this show coming up will be nowhere near the standard expected.

Why are people slagging white collar? It raises a lot of money for charity and gets people fit and healthier.

Sam stepped away from white collar some time ago to take up coaching/promoting in the pro ranks , Other lads within the gym deal with the white collar or charity fight camps totally seperatley , The guy is trying to breed frsh life into scottish boxing as the older generation have become stale with lack of oppurtunity , personally i think Sams a breath of fresh air , and lets be honest if the guy wasnt passionate about advancing scottish boxing whilst making a living , im sure he would have made a far easier living as he had a great career as a corporate lawyer prior to boxing , The guy should be admired for his efforts not sniped at

    Well said.

As for a previous post going on about someone doing a bit of white collar and thinking they're a boxer, I say let them think that. They're obviously just doing it for something to post on Facebook and brag to their colleagues about. Anyone actually involved in the sport of boxing or anyone with the slightest idea how it all works knows the script and would shrug it off.

Am not so sure they are completely separate.

Sniped at? It's an opinion the same way you have yours, I thought that's what a forum was all about was it not?

I stand by my view that It's doesn't look good these guys even training in the same gym as what is meant to be a pro setup.

It's not rare to have gyms that have other set ups aside from the Pros. There are gyms up and down the whole of the UK that offer Pro, Amateur, White Collar, Fitness and even stuff like MMA as part of their offering, allhelps keep the lights on.

Not sure why you've got a problem with this one.

90% of most pros still train or use their amature gym they used prior to turning pro , so see no major issue if , amature pro or keep fitters use the same gym , they all go for their own means so each to their own and fair play to them as they are doing no arm and better than slobbing on the couch

Has far as im aware pro trainers can coach white collar fighter although take part in there contests, why shouldn't they train with pros they'd be able to pick up things a lot quicker, what I don't agree with is calling it semi pro, its white collar enjoyment and learning the skill of boxing.
Also it should be made compulsory that money goes to charity from white collar events imo

you know as well as i do billy that even when they run these things for charity that the charity very rarely get much money. they use the money for overheads as they call it and give the charity a token amount.

Or better still Billy into grassroots boxing, as you know hundreds of clubs up and down the UK struggling to stay afloat.
