Round 1

Tit for tat left jabs circling medium pace, ring center. A sprinkling of chest jabs by Cieślak, and then looping right hands on the near left hip of Kölling. Aggressive two-piece combos by the German now, 1-2s and hook-2s, and Cieślak takes a few retreating steps to lull him in, creating a false sense of security. Log-splitter overhand right by Cieślak, axing down into Kölling's face as he steps forward and splattering him coccyx first onto the mat. Kölling dazed but tries rising. The ref has seen enough.

To place the impressiveness of that result into context: Enrico Kölling is the man that came within half a minute of lasting a 12 full rounds versus Artur Beterbiev - the closest anyone has come professionally to surviving the distance with the light heavyweight beast. Cieślak just one shotted him with a cleverly set up counter that was basically his first meaningful punch thrown upstairs.

 

It honestly wasn't a bad try by Kölling, testing his opponent's heart and looking to establish himself as the boss early - but the gamble backfired, as he was just massively outsized, outgunned, outskilled and outchinned.
