Michael Bisping vs. Demian Maia added to UFC on FOX 2

Decent card

 

They're trying their best to justify a Bisping title shot. I was just thinking the other day that of the top middleweights, Maia is probably the fighter Bisping has the best chance against.

 

If he gets past Maia, I think he's in. I don't think they'll risk him against anyone else.

Maia is one of my favorites, so I'll be rooting for him. Maia's striking is really coming along. I won't be surprised if wins without taking Bisping down.

 

I hope he does get a title shot. Will be fun

Bisping fighting for the title would be huge in terms of the UK market. Dana knows the British fight fans are a massive mine of money, look how many Hatton fans would travel for his fights. Dana said in a press confrence the otehr week that in his mind Canada is now the no 1 location for UFC in terms of numbers and interest generated, this is almost exlusively down to GSP. Dana is desperate to find a really good UK fighter in that ilk, trouble is: there isn't any.

That's going too far. Maia is better than he was but in pure striking Bisping is much better. I think Maia's striking is good enough though to set up his takedowns and hopefully he can sub Bisping.

I kinda doubt it though. Bisping will know that getting taken down is death and will do everything he can to avoid it and will probably end up pecking and running to a decision. I think Bisping's worst match up would be guys who could take him down no matter what like Munoz or Sonnen.

 

Bisping hasn't actually mixed it with the best 185s yet. When he did, he lost - Silva and Hendo. Silva was his best shot at beating a faded great. I think he needs that rematch. Maia doesn't threaten that much on his feet and his wrestling is average and Bisping will surely be trying to avoid jits at all costs.

Bisping needs to fight Sonnen, Henderson or Beflort. Even Wanderlei would be good coming off of his Cung win.

 

For a free card in the US, this is bad ass. Five fights I'm keen to see here:

Mark Munoz vs. Chael Sonnen
Michael Bisping vs. Demian Maia
Evan Dunham vs. Paul Sass
Jon Olav Einemo vs. Mike "The Destroyer" Russow

Glad to see Bisping fighting again so soon, Maia is one of the two top ten middleweights he stands a decent chance against in the UFC (the other being Brian Stann) so it's a good match-up for him. He's being guided to a title shot here, but if he beats Maia I won't object if he gets fed to Anderson.

If Bisping can beat Maia then how can you say he is not somewhat deserving of a title shot? Big if though
