A "modern classic" if you will, between the krazy Korean chap who won't stop coming Chi, and the criminally under-rated Manchunian body punching specialist Brodie. WBC featherweight title fight. After the wars Brodie was in his whole career there was only one way that rematch was going. Brodie should have been world champion, he was easily good enough.
No problem, why not share a great and often over-looked fight with the rest of the forum? People should post these scraps more often instead of threads we've discussed a million times over.
Is the rumours true Brodie is making a comeback to the ring. Hatton will be promoter for the comeback fight not too sure were I seen it and what paper it was but he is 35 now and out of the ring some time is it worth it to come back now for maybe if your lucky 2-3 years.
Let's hope not, he was shot to **** when he retired, and I heard he weighs about 30 stone now, so it looks doubtful and ifso, he surely won't make it far.
Yes Brodie was soooo underrated it's not even funny.. His two fights with Chi if a hiden classic but unfortunately, those brutal wars took alot out of him.. He fought bravely but Chi kept coming and coming, like a ****in Jason Vorhees.. That's how Koreans roll, we dont give up.. **** with us and we come back for more and more until one of us are dead. I wish all the best for Brodie.
One of my favourite fights, and a fight that helped make an impressionable youngster like myself really fall in love with the sport. You have to feel for Brodie, robbed in his first World title fight and in his second he ran into a machine in Injin Chi. Brodie was terrific in that fight but just couldn't put enough of a dent in Chi to stop him coming forward and the draw with be the closest he'd get to a World title. He had nothing left for the rematch with Chi, who himself carried everything he had and more into the second fight, brutally dispatching Brodie. In his final chance a shopworn Brodie performed brilliantly against Scott Harrison for several rounds before being stopped with some viscious body shots. In the days of multiple 'World titles' Michael Brodie is as good a fighter you'll find who hasn't won one. Chi unfortunately never got the glory or success he deserved after becomming World champion. He made his first defence in front of a small crowd in a hotel, when he deserved to be defending in an arena or even a stadium. So impressed by Chi in the Brodie fights Sky Sports even showed the bout with Sugama. Chi eventually had to give up boxing in place of K1 because he simply couldn't make reasonable money in it and for a fighter of his quality and the multi-millions you see 'elite' fighters making, that really is a disgrace.
Good words Chi seems to be getting long overdue recognition here on ESB. Pacquiao wanted nothing to do with him - that says a lot there
