Good stuff. His voice was so dynamic then.

I actually prefer his intro to Jones vs. Tony Thornton, and I have that on DVD, but my laptop doesn't recognize the disc. The youtube out there for that fight omits the intros.

Yeah, that's some beautiful announcing. Jimmy Lennon Jr. is great also.. it's going to suck bad when they leave. There is nobody else in the boxing announcing world near their level.

Another example that sticks out in my head of a prime Buffer announcing two names that sound great is DLH vs Chavez. It sounded perfect.

    Amen to that!

Michael Buffer was the voice of boxing for what, two, three decades now? A great voice, calm, cool. Superfights needed him to be there (though Jimmy Lennon jr. is fantastic as well).

It was a great surprise and to my dismay finding he has throat cancer. Hopefully the surgery and treatment will bring him back to health.

    How about Brucie Buffer? :blood

    :yep

Everytime that dude does fight intros, I just wanna chuck a poison tipped spear up his ass. :-(

    Back to topic:

I thought Michael initially said it was just nodules or something benign? Not cancer.

Thankfully the cancer has a ery good survival rate but in his throat would effect his job in a big way, hope he can continue in the job.

Well, it's not breaking news, some articles were written about it a few weeks ago. Of course I hope he gets well soon but in his statement he's saying something unexpected:

"I am looking forward to being back in the ring next week (Saturday, April 19th) as Bernard Hopkins faces Joe Calzaghe on HBO from Las Vegas."

    Say what?

Only a few days after the surgery he's back in the ring again? It's great news but I hope he's not jeopardizing his health jumping back too early.

I just love "Let's get ready to rumble!"

Boxing can not afford to lose Michael Buffer. Let's hope he has a full recovery and the cancer doesn't limit his ability to do his thing.

I hope Buffer is free and clear of all of it, now, and is A OK. As has been said, he IS big fight boxing.
