Michael Buffer is now saying "For the Thousands in Attendance and the Millions around the world who wish they could be here tonight" before saying "Lets Get Ready to Rumble".

This is the 2nd fight in a row that he's done this if I'm not mistaken, and I don't know but doesn't it sort of sound weird? I mean I personally wasn't wishing I could be there in MSG last night when I was watchin the Crawford fight. I mean I was perfectly happy watching the fight on my couch on HBO. So why does Michael Buffer think everyone watching on TV wishes they were there? Lets get ready to rumble is a most iconic way to start a boxing match and I'm not sure I like hearing that introduction changed. Do you think he will say this from now on?

That's a lot of thought put into something so insignificant... the rumble line is his bread and butter.

Well it's the second fight in a row that he's said it. Don't you think it sounds a little odd? Did you personally wish you could be there last night?

OK BUT I think it was better before. Like you don't need to change that introduction ever imho. Wasn't it just "For the thousands in attendance and the millions [joining us / watching] around the world, Live from [venue], Lets Get Ready to Rumble".

Sometimes with or without that "Live from" part, right, but never anything added to that introduction until these last two fights if I'm not mistaken.

Buffer said he used all kind of slogans for years until he came up with the Ready to Rumble line. He's just trying out new material.

Why not give it a chance? It's like going to listen to Sinatra and complaining he sang a new song.

I am giving it a chance. I'm asking what other posters think about it? At first it sounded odd when he said it at Canelo vs Chavez, now he's doing it again. I'm trying to gauge if you guys like it or not and if you think he's going to say it for now on.

Sounds good to me. It's meant either to embarrass those people who couldn't afford to attend the fight, or to honor the soldiers watching from overseas. Or both.

Is he going to start wearing a 2-sizes-too-small t-shirt with "you can't sit with us" printed on it, too?

That's what I don't like about it, how it sounds like he's basically mocking the people watching on TV. Like he's saying "ha ha I'm here watching the fight in person and you're not" lmao.

I mean we are a TV viewer shouldn't feel bad about not attending an event. Like sure it would be cool to go to the fight in person, but I can honestly say that I didn't wish I was there, because I don't live close to MSG or have the time to travel there. I was perfectly happy watching the fight on TV, so I'm not sure I like Michael Buffer telling me that I wished that I was at the fight when I'm not. I guess my question to Michael Buffer is what's wrong with watching the fight on HBO?

My question to you is why are you watching the fight on HBO when you can get it free otherwise. MAybe that's what is bothering you....paying for an HBO subscription then hearing Buffer mock you for it. It would bother me if I paid for HBO.

But seriously I don't think he's trying to mock people. Maybe just a poor choice of words.
