Peter by a controversial decision.A younger Dokes definitely takes this, but at that time, he slipped enough for Sam to take advantage.

I would say Dokes by decision, possibly late stoppage.

I saw that high paced, non stop action WBC Continental Americas title bout between Dokes and Holyfield and we're talking about one of the most spirited performances of Boxing's Warrior himself. Peter has guts and seems oblivious to danger but he doesn't have Holy's heart so he would have failed had he met short-armed but relentless Michael in those circumstances.

Dokes went toe to toe and gave ATG Holyfield a GREAT fight.

Peter is tough, and hits hard but Dokes has the big edge in skill and wins this via mid to late stoppage.

Although Dokes was a tad older in 1989 than he was in his championship days, he was arguably a better, more sound version of himself. He had been drug free for the first time in years, was fighting actively, and working with better management. There was a level of focus there that I had not seen before. I think Dokes on the night he battled life and death with Holyfield could have taken a decision over a less polished and poorly conditioned Sam Peter..

I think Dokes would out work him the first half and get nailed and stopped in the last third of the fight.

Not sure, he was supposed to be up for parole, though.

sam peter wins by ko .

dokes would be susceptible to power and at some point peter will catch him clean and dokes will go.

Plus, Dokes was never that good of a hitter, and if Peter caught him right, forget it.

Watch the fight with Holyfield, that was an awesome fight. He'd beat Peter.

i watched ken norton put up A great fight v holmes.

when he faced a puncher in gerry cooney he got KTFO in 1 round.

holyfield ko`d 4 heavyweights approx in his whole career so while the fight was good it should not sway how dokes did v a puncher.
after holyfield i remember ruddock ko`ing dokes and bowe wiping his arse with him.

peter is heavy handed and proved v toney he can land his punches and dokes never had a toney like chin.
