tough one, Dokes could catch Earni early, if he did he would likely finish him. I would go with Earnie though. I don't think Dokes would catch him enough to ko him,I think when he didn't right away he would fight cautiously, And Earnie would eventually catch him and knock him out. Cold!

Dokes had a great chin at his best and was blindingly fast. By the time he won the title his power had also improved and become underrated. He seemed to mature body wise and started fighting flat footed a lot more. At one point he was considered feather fisted but ended up having quite respectable heavyweight power.

I think he would roll Earnie but as always Earnie at his best demands respect. I think Dokes could come back from a potential troublesome moment or two if need be. It's not a closed case tho.

I think the "young Dokes" fought prime Teofilio Stevenson in the amateurs....so a more mature version of Dokes won't be afraid of Ernie.

Dokes for my money would knock out Shavers in a similar fashion to the way Jerry Quarrey did. A nice match up of two Ohioans.

Dokes wouldn't be afraid of Earnie, yo'u're right. That's where his problems would start.

Similar to the Weaver fight. Dokes pounces on him and lands a flurry with that tremendous hand speed. Dokes was not the biggest puncher, but could probably get a legit stoppage over Shaver.

I'm going with this .Dokes comes out speeding, knowing the damage Shavers can do .He clock s him Early and big Earnie ends up on ***** st.
But if Shaver's managed to survive the early blast then its Dokes that s getting KO'd ,and hard .

If Earnie is putting hurt on Norton and previous to that Ali and nearly discombobulating a peak Holmes I reckon he'd be a big chance to f up Dokes.

Dokes was lesser than all of these but he was tough and had some epic hand speed and decent skills.

I'd lean towards Shavers of that brief peak finishing Dokes but if he doesn't seal the deal then Dokes is a big shot to leave Earnie flummoxed and beaten.

Dokes in no later than 2 rounds at this best. His speed would be too much for Earnie, and while he had no Page/Witherspoon type of chin, he had one good enough to survive Shavers in the time needed.

Is Joey Curtis refereeing? If he is, my money is on Dokes.
