Dokes was like Terry Norris a speed demon but once hit they became vulnerable by failing to utilize their speed by brawling. Bruno catch's Dokes with huge right hand and wins by ko late.
I like Dokes here. His power is underrated and seemed to mature as he went on. The biggest problem is that he barely had a prime really. He was cocaine binging even by the time of his second defense and god knows when it actually started. His excellent effort against Holyfield after recovering i think shows he could have been a damn good fighter if he didn't snort his prime away. He looked fine from the waist up but from the waist down that he was Old Man River. From around the first Weaver fight and rematch i think he would beat Frank. Dokes handspeed was immense early in his bouts but he was prone to losing that early snap quite quickly. Frank was a bit stiff and methodical to overly pressure him i think and Dokes took a helluva shot at his best so i don't think Frank could turn the fight with one big punch. I'm think a Dokes decision.
Dokes' prime possibly came and went before we saw much of him. I remember him blowing away brick chinned John L Gardner in, I think, 4 rounds. He was lightning fast and hit with real power. I think he would simply have swarmed all over the very mechanical Bruno who had a habit of losing his boxing under pressure. Frank also had very poor stamina hence the fade outs against Smith and Witherspoon and the desperate last 2 rounds against McCall so a points win would be highly unlikely. I have no anti Bruno agenda and think he was brilliant for British Boxing because he engaged literally millions, many of whom actually took an interest in the sport and his legacy, to an extent, is the popularity it enjoys today. I just have no concept of him winning. In all honesty, he never actually beat a live, World class Heavyweight.
I don't disagree with this but in Bruno's favor, he's the only fighter I ever saw stagger prime Tyson with a single punch, and he gave Lewis one of his three toughest fights -until he got knocked out.
