Douglas. Probably a close bout, though.

Very interesting fight. Could Dokes quickness have enable him to land his combinations ?
Or may Douglas mobility and stiff jab have hindered that ?

Not sure I think of any examples where Dokes overcame a tall rangy boxer. I’m undecided

They didn't even have to be rangy, Cobb gave him a hard fight and he's not exactly technically sound.

Yeah. I liked Michael Dokes but in truth he wasn’t all that good

I thought he was a neat fighter until I found out about what he got convicted for in the 90s. Coke got to him.

He struggled with coke for a long time. There was a brief period in the late eighties where he got clean, put together a good winning streak and climbed to the top of the ratings. After the epic fight with Holyfield he fell back down the drain again though…. Another Tale of wasted talent to add to the many others

If Dokes was right, he could possibly edge this. But can't see him out boxing Buster. Both on point, Douglass by UD.

Exactly. Tokyo Buster stops him in 7 or 8.

I've got Buster. Both were pretty inconsistent but I like Buster's size and jab.

Dokes had fast hands but T-Rex arms. Buster would keep him at distance and bust him with that jab and wear Michael down.

Dokes would be frisky for a while before it settled into a pattern with Big Bus dictating terms and pace to cruise to a points win.

Dokes was 6-3 and had a 78" reach, hardly T-Rex. But he did fight "tight", kinda upright and back over his hips, which showcased his speed but lacked elasticity. He provided a weird, somewhat static, stance, but absolutely ridiculous handspeed.

In the end Dokes beat more good fighters than did Douglas. He showed up more often, barely. I'm going to give it to Mike, if stays away from the blow.

Did Dokes beat more good fighters than Douglas ? i'm not so sure.

Douglas beat Tyson, Page, Berbick, McCall, M.Williams.

Dokes beat Weaver via controversial stoppage, Cobb, ancient Young, Ocasio, chaplin.

I would say Douglas has more wins against recognised names than Dokes, Douglas beat 4 fighters who were world champions.
