Late in 2020, headlining BKFC 12. Scheduled to go 5 two-minute rounds at 120+kg (heavyweight). Bare-knuckle rules.

This will be an official, real pro fight - just won't count toward either man's extant pro boxing record. In essence both will be making their pro debuts in a brand new sport, both in their middle-age.

Tyson will turn 54 next month. Briggs will turn 49 around the same time of the scheduled event (originally supposed to have been in April, but the postponement needs to be preceded by the BKFC 11 event originally scheduled to have been in March. BKFC 11 is now tentatively slated for June 20th; following that model we can extrapolate a new date of July 11th for BKFC 12 - but a more conservative guess would be in the fall or even winter depending on the length of the lockdown).

Looks like this fight is going to happen, are both men endangering their health for nothing?

Just a tuneup for Iron Mike to get him in contention for the big John Fury bout.

Not interested in Briggs but if it leads to more interesting things then so be it

John Fury called out Mike Tyson today for a charity boxing match

    PPV material

Prime for prime, Mike's power >>>>> Shannon's (and Briggs' power was pretty damn good).

However, their chins are quite another thing. You have a very good one in Tyson (only haters claim it was below average) but then absolute Teflon on the lumbering asthmatic.

I think under this rule set honestly either could get KTFO. Low-key fascinated by this.

Tyson will ktfo Briggs he’s probably in better shape now than when he last fought he’s had 15 years to chill and smoke weed so after a full training camp he will be ready to kill.

Briggs would beat him. Tbf to briggs hes kept himself in good shape consistantly...apart from one major blip whereas mikes lifestyles been massively up and down for years and the downs have been real downs. Alcoholic. Drug addict. Food addict. Never trained for years. Hes also 4 years older and just getting himself back fit.

I reckon tyson could get some form of success out of a comeback but it needs to be done properly. Talks of fighting holyfield, briggs and even danny williams will put the breaks on it straight away...these are guys that have kept themselves relatively fit over the years. Mikes been the complete opposite.

He needs to target useless guys first like briggs and foreman both done with success. Get back feeling good about boxing. Getting match fit....then start moving forward. Advice would be get totally useless guys in for four or five fights. Even more if needed. Then take it from there.

Think he’d be a strong fav against Briggs who would turn up with the pay cheque mindset.

Well all the "should" or "shouldn't" talk is moot, as they've reportedly both signed for this. :nusenuse:

...and those who've opined that a 'charity exhibition' or summat would be fine at this point for either - that isn't what this is. This is as real a competition as though it were Tyson's 59th and Briggs' 69th match under MoQ. Actually perhaps even more dangerous, as these guys could easily dislocate one another's jaws in a slobberknocker w/o any glove padding - or cause permanent tissue damage to each other's eyes, potentially costing either man his vision.

John fury should be the type of guy tyson should be aiming at atm. Briggs would beat him easily i,d have thought at this point in time.

Gonna end up a money making exercise....where mikes back to where he left off....fighting guys too fit for him for money. Cant blame him tbh he,ll make good money out of it wish promoters etc would play the long game for once tho. Give these older guys a chance to come back properly...easing their way back in like foreman sucesfully done.

That is true but 15 years ago he was still used to getting hit, and had all that muscle-memory built up when he quit versus McBride. Now, he's going to get clobbered harder than he did by the Colossus, only he won't be so accustomed to it.

    ...and I like Mike.
