Alex Assbuster Arthur by brutal stoppage, the same way Gomez will losse every time he steps up and faces a good opponent now.
Have you seen Gomez recently? I saw him live vs Johannesson and vs Khan. The guy needs to retire very soon.
i agree .hes had his best days.hes figthing baz carey ,that is about his level.he struggled the last time agains him.
Arthur KO, Gomez to then moan about the ref, do an interview a few weeks later saying "I can still be a champion" etc etc then repeat.
Unfortunately I can only see the not so amazing Alex winning this....probably TKO half way or earlier if he pushes the pace. Having said that at this stage of Gomezs career an Arthur win would be scant vengence for the brutal raping that Gomez dished out in 2003.
Write Gomez off at your peril he's still got it.... I don't come on here spouting rubbish much; Baz Carey will be completely outclassed this weekend. Gomez is and always has been a massively erratic performer but having done ten rounds with him this weekend he's getting back to his under-rated boxing skills. look for a complete shut out over Baz Carey or stoppage this weekend. He's preparing for his fights away from any distraction and he's hungry for that last oppertunity. He and his trainer aren't in it for the money they want a piece of the action at 9st 4- 9'9.
I couldnt give a **** about this fight anymore. After Alex lost to that mug Cook, hes yesterdays man. Look, I am on record as saying I thought Arthur was robbed. Still though, Arthur should have knocked Cook out. The fact he didnt still makes my scottish face turn red with shame. I suppose Arthur beating Gomez would make me smile, but hes still got that godawful loss to Cook, who got obliterated by one of the worst champions in recent history, Steve Luaveno. To me, this rematch has lost its sparkle cos Arthur has THAT L on his record to Cook now. Gomez knows it too, judging by his last recent interview in Glasgow city centre. Arthur v Gomez 2? Big deal. Would be fun for scots-english bragging rights on ESB brit forum, but thats about it. Its time for the future now, & scottish boxing is in safe hands with McEwan, Appleby & Anderson on the up & up, & stalwarts like Burns & of course Willie Limond going strong, & maybe McIntyre can also regain his brit title against the talented Kell Brook too, no easy task mind. The future is bright, & the present is OK, despite Arthur deciding to hug & kiss Nicky Cook all night & play to the cameras with McCullough in the corner instead of doing his job & knocking Cook out! Until Arthur gets his head sorted out, hes about as useful as Scotty harrison to scottish boxing right now.
Didn't Gomez shut out Baz Carey last time? He just seems like one crazy ****er who will just fight anyone - even fighting at 150 last time......
He took it very easy on Carey trying to get some rounds under his belt, and talking to Barry Hughes during the last round. He started well but finished poorly which led to Carey claiming with more preperation he would have beaten Gomez. He's has had approx 8 weeks to get ready. Gomez is a character but nowhere near as 'mad' as he makes out. He's a cracking lad and a very good fighter. There can be excuses made for both his losses to Khan and Johansson and it can be argued that he was very close to winning both contests at one stage or another. I think he's got something left. He's looking excellent in the gym and i'm sure he'll do a number on Carey this weekend.
I would put my house on him beating Baz Carey..... I think he gave Johanneson a torrid time, but Carl doesn't mind getting in the trenches and eventually weathered the storm to grind out a win. The stoppage was ok because Gomez wasn't protecting himself - the fact that he was able to moan about it made it fine for me. He was probably closer to beating Khan, he doesn't like having to get into a war - this has been evident a few times, none more so than against Gomez. I think (and Bunce does too I believe) that a younger Gomez would have finished Khan off.
Gotta go with Arthur in this one, by KO in the mid-rounds. Gomez would make a fight of it in the early going.
Having seen Michael fight on several occasions and seeing him up close and personal there is just an air of danger about the man. I weigh 195 and am in excellent shape for my age but given the choice I would much rather get between the ropes to face David Haye than Michael Gomez any day of the week...truly.
