Atlas knows a lot about boxing, but it hasn't translated into him being a good trainer at the pro level (among top fighters).

Moorer didn't even listen to Atlas during his win over Holyfield nor his loss to Foreman, and the moments in which you'd praise Moorer for his heart/fighting spirit came with other trainers in the corner (Steward, Roach).

Atlas seems too concerned with his rep and the cameras than the fighters, humiliating them with **** like "don't be paralyzed by your insecurity" in the center ring (gee, couldn't this speech have come in the dressing room?) and other antics like the cell phone **** like Moorer.

With his knowledge he could be pretty effective, let's say he watches film and looks for mistakes and tendencies of opponents, and helps his fighters capitalize off of them.

But instead he just spends too much time embarassing his fighters in front of the camera and putting on a show of himself.

I quite like Grant and it's a shame that his career took such a downward spiral after Lewis bounced him around the ring. I wish him all the best for his future career.
