Nah, not really. Just sick of reading hundreds of identically rubbish threads about Mayweather/Pac gossip, and how Cintron apparently intentionally launched himself head first out of the ring, just for the hell of it. Grant v Audley Harrison next up, what do you think? Retirement match. Who takes the win? I'd like to see a old guys/comebacking guys team against a current team in a tournament against this generation of fighters. No belt holders allowed. Old guys: (36 or over - chosen from the top of my head) Shannon Briggs David Tua Michael Grant Audley Harrison Evander Holyfield Valuev JC Gomez Oliver McCall Tony Thomson James Toney New Guys: (30 or under - top ten chosen from boxrec rankings) Povetkin Peter Eddie Chambers Arreola Sam Sexton Dimintrenko Boystov Solis Pianeta Helenius Put them into a hat, and I think the old guys win more than they lose, no matter what order they come out. I see only the top 4 of the young blokes being favourites in most of the fights. Though if the Klitchko shy Povetkin draws Tua, that could cause some issues. There could be better old guys out there, I'm not sure who's still active really, just chose them out of my head.
Shannon is a funny guy... I rather see him fight Audley [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E2Zu90LsrXE&feature=related[/ame] [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ds2Xi9NRaPY&playnext_from=TL&videos=yDdagSlKlik[/ame]
I actually like to watch Gomez fight, and hate to see him be fat go to waste. I'd be interested in seeing him against a lot of fighters. Adamek, Toney, Peter, old or young.
old in order of who I think would win Holyfield (he still does compete well (HGH anyone?)) Tony Thomson (he won last out, but looked like crap and is out of shape) JC Gomez (he's old, but has good skill) Valuev(1 fight out from holding a belt and has a 2inch thick skull that people break hands on) Tua( more active, but hasn't fought anyone of notice) Briggs(to much rust) Toney(ditto) McCall( he's doing to much coke) Grant ( neverwas, never will be) Harrison( ditto) New Guys: (30 or under - top ten chosen from boxrec rankings) Povetkin (doesn't do anything excellent, but does everything good) Pianeta (seriously underrated, even when he hits people's gloves they fly across the ring, needs more workrate otherwise he risks loosing rounds) Solis ( good speed and skill, dedication is in question) Chambers ( nice peakaboo defence, is fast) Helenius ( explosive power, good size, has been moving up really fast but needs more experience) Boystov ( excellent power, might be undersized but that works with his style) Arreola ( can still bang, but his confidence might be gone after a few losses) Peter (hasn't shown much improvement in skills, but his dedication may be improving) Dimintrenko ( decent overall talent, needs more experience) Sexton ( got lucky by fighting Rogan when his herniated disc was pushing on his spinal cord, everyone on the list would spark him early) On the new guys, I could place them all dead even from from Solis down to Arreola. I think Povetkin would wear down Holyfield and tko him late or get a wide dec.
Its interesting but I think you're dead wrong. The newer wave of HW boxers - Chambers, Povetkin, Haye and Adamek - who are in better condition and a lot more skilled then their immediate predecessors, would likely prevail.
Alright, pick your winners. Generated random order from random.org. Top of the list is #1, bottom 10. Matchups came out like this. Toney v Povetkin Tua v Pianeta McCall v Peter Harrison v Sexton Thomson v Dimitrenko Holyfield v Helenius Valuev v Solis Grant v Boystov Gomez v Arreola Briggs v Chambers Who you picking? Some not bad matchups there. Would have liked to see Arreola drawn with Tua or Toney, but I'll take some of those. Battle of the Brits in the middle there.
I ruled out the belt holders. But I could match Haye (under 30) against Vitali (over 36) to prove my point? Adamek is between ages. I wanted an up and comers area (under 30), and old guys. Adamek is about at where he should be prime IMO - maybe not in weight, but definitely in age. I don't see Chambers offering a lot more than Toney (maybe now, he's ****ing old). But not Toney around 37 years old. I would like to be wrong the newer, younger guys SHOULD be better. But I don't see it. maybe they don't get the opportunity because they don't have the name - or maybe they get it but don't take it - Povetkin won't step up, Arreola won't get fit etc.
Top of the list is #1, bottom 10. Matchups came out like this. Toney v Povetkin Povetkin (UD) Tua v Pianeta Pianeta (UD) McCall v Peter Peter (UD) Harrison v Sexton Harrison (KO2) Thomson v Dimitrenko this would be a good fight (Thomson)(TKO 10) Holyfield v Helenius Helenius (SD) Valuev v Solis Solis (UD) Grant v Boystov Boystov (KO3) Gomez v Arreola Gomez (UD) Briggs v Chambers Chambers (UD)
grant...briggs...mcline..thompson....these should be the tests for kimbo to make it to accepted heavyweight boxer status. these guys would make a nice payday and so would kimbo. ...and who wouldn't mind it. i think kimbo would be gassed the **** out every fight and fighting for his life...but hey... why the **** not. like when they beat on james toney... that's suppose to mean something.
Oh, ****. You've blown my theory out of the water. Young blokes take it 7-3. I'll agree with most. Except Tua by late KO (I'm a Kiwi, I have to...). I'll also say that the Valuev fight is promoted by Don King in Germany, as a WBA eliminator, so Valuev takes a SD, and it's now 5-5
Toney v Povetkin = Povetkin lopsided UD Tua v Pianeta = Tua by KO (as of right now, but Pianeta can still improve) McCall v Peter = Peter UD Harrison v Sexton = Tossup Thomson v Dimitrenko = Thompson UD or late TKO Holyfield v Helenius = Helenius by TKO Valuev v Solis = Solis UD (close) Grant v Boystov = Boytsov by early and brutal KO Gomez v Arreola = Arreola by KO Briggs v Chambers = Chambers lopsided UD My 2 cents
