Makabu is still popping away with accurate right jabs and left hands through the gloves, and finding them not even an obstruction as Otas reverts to a run-and-lean-back defensive strategy with his hands down to conserve energy. Hard shots land for Makabu as Otas tries to summon the strength to drum his fists out wide to the body or loop them overhand. Makabu just peppers Otas with combs all around the ring. AGAIN, Otas is left on the ropes with flurries flying in his face until the referee jumps between them and waves his ****ing arms.

Round 7

Makabu tees off, but doesn't stop his man. Otas is doing a lot of leaning back into the ropes and blocking, then springing back with ineffective swats before getting right back into pattern and getting lit up.

70-63 Makabu

 

Round 8

Makabu has Otas on the ropes for a prolonged period and pumps right jab after left hand into his face. The referee just stands there while Otas gets his mug tenderized. Neither Otas nor the referee seems in a hurry to do anything about it, but neither is Makabu turning over hard enough shots to put a punctuation mark.

80-72 Makabu

 

Round 9

Makabu is clowning more now, doing the full sprint around Otas with his arms down. Right hooks slap Otas upside the head, and then the jab/left combo drills into his face to back him to the ropes where Makabu works the body as Otas shells up. A few overhands are cast into the pot by Otas, but he's got nothing on his bluff and is losing his ninth hand in a row.
