I thought this was a post bounced from 2012, No its legit. Sprott is still active too, has lost 6 in a row. Boxrec though has Grant vs Kevin Johnson on march 24 now
Why not Povetkin? Oh, that's right, Wilder has HAYMON BOXING INSURANCE! Damn, Grant is 100 years old by now, what in the hell is he doing boxing at his age and inactivity?! This has to be a joke! Oh, it's to protect Wilder?
I have to believe the WBC eliminator thing was said as a joke, clearly neither are fighting Wilder. Let the old men fight, they need to make a living to and won't hurt each other as much as a young prospect would.
Ortiz was 59 years old according to his cousin who still lives in Cuba, Ortiz's other friends also said the same thing, I don't know about 59 but I do suspect he was around 50.................
I think the winner of this fight has a good chance to dethrone Lennox, as he didn't look as imposing as before in the Holyfield rematch. That is if the world still exist by then, as that pesky millenium bug might start a nucleair war or something simular.
Frickin hell, maybe ol' Gerrie Coetzee could make a comeback too and a run for the WBC title? I'm sure that Wilder would give him a shot
So they changed it again? It was Grant vs. Johnson yesterday, until I saw this very thread and went and checked and it had been changed to Grant vs. Sprott - are they just cycling through every D-level but still vaguely "recognizable name" opponent they can find? Why are they so dead set desperate on keeping the date for Grant, if he must persist in fighting, period, rather than just wait until they can secure a solid commitment from somebody that can put in a full camp? edit: now the fight's gone off BoxRec altogether.
I believe Grant has failed at least one, maybe two separate medicals in the past few years, preventing previous bouts of his from coming off. He was a late call to fight Andy Ruiz not long ago but they had to scuttle that one after a failed medical.
