This is always the narrative being pushed anytime someone has a bad night on these forums. "Hes overrated", "Hes shot", "He should retire", blah blah blah. **** gets old. Hes not overrated but is he a top 10? Sure, why wouldnt he be?

Theres worst fighters in the top 10 that are less worthy of a top 10 ranking than Hunter.

It was also Washington's 9th pro fight and he'd only been a pro for 12 months, with 14 amateur bouts before that. In Forrest's next fight he went the 8 round distance with Hunter, who conversely was a very experienced high level amateur. In retrospect, Washington's KO's over Forrest and Helenius were decent.

Washington is actually a little underrated, might spell bad things for a much older Ortiz in January.

Also, I should note, they were both new, but I think Forrest has gotten better, Washington mostly just older. They both fought while green.

He tried to out slug a guy nicknamed the slugger, not exactly the smartest gameplan, and he was busted up by the end. Maybe an off night for Hunter as we all have them but he was lucky not to pick up an L.

Washington was very washed up when he fought Martin but I learned the other day that Martin took up boxing at 22, so he was fighting AJ on just 7 years of boxing experience. This means that Martin will have had almost double the time in the sport by the time he fights Ortiz. When we then consider that Ortiz apparently started boxing at 10 years old, allegedly had 370 amateur bouts, is officially going on 43 years old but may be several years older and has been KO'd by Wilder twice in the last 4 years, the difference in miles on the clock is absurdly big. Ortiz is cherrypicking Martin because he's not very good and Martin is cherrypicking Ortiz because he may finally be faded enough for Martin to get a big win.

So because of one bad fight he doesn't belong in the Top 10? Mhh...Hrgovic looked like **** in the majority of his fights but got some cab drivers and bums so he still gets W after W after W....does he belong in the Top 10?.

    STupid topic.

Hunter has a good resume and is a good fighter. He looked bad last night but everyone has bad nights. The important thing with him is how he reacts to it.

Stop hyping or hating fighters for ONE bad night.

Apart from that...Forrest is a really good fighter. GIVE HIM SOME CREDIT TOO FFS

Of course he is. He's an Usyk victim, so he's beloved by default.

He hasn't had a bad night, he's had a bad couple years.

People have held on to the pause in reevaluating fighters a little too long. Guys like Luis Ortiz and Hunter who were doing good things several years ago shouldn't be grandfathered in anymore. Hunter should be out and Ortiz too if he doesn't beat Martin.

I've yet to see the fight (didn't even realize it was on a Thursday ). Did Hunter look as awful as everyone is saying? I've held him in quite high regard for years. Did he get hurt? Hit the wall? Untrained/unfocused?

Yes, he looked very bad. Slow, lethargic, swinging wildly, getting tagged repeatedly by Forrest's straight lefts down the pipe, forced to hold on at times, threw up in his corner, swelled up under both eyes and failed to really hurt Forrest at all (though he should have been given a KD that was ruled a slip). Not sure the reason why as of yet. I'm sure more will come out in interviews.

Nope. If Hunter trains back to his best I still reckon he could cause a lot of top fighters problems. But he seems to have lost his fire and his ambition of late, so maybe we've seen the best of him.
