As my personal favorite fighter at or above CW for probably the past 5+ years, I think the bus has passed him by unfortunately. Hunter was never gonna beat Usyk, but everyone else at HW IMO was within his range. Definitely a waste of talent, a big one.
Hunter wins the title for the worst managed fighter in the HW division currently still active. How he blew it is really unbelievable. Clearly his win over Bakole in 2018 showed he was elite. But since 2021, he has only fought twice against complete bums. Bizarre and let’s see how he does from here on out.
I don't think he's serious about his career at this point. He is getting older and has shown zero urgency despite not getting to the big money he may have gotten otherwise. Think Hunter vs Anderson would be an interesting American clash still, tho.
