Hunter was probably angry that Matchroom didn't have his back: gave him a draw against 40+ Povetkin (a nearly man of the previous era) in a fight most had Hunter winning narrowly. Then gave Povetkin the shot at "WBC interim champion" and 3rd Ring ranked Whyte, no doubt on the basis that Povetkin was thought to be an easier matchup than the younger, fresher Hunter.

The Povetkin draw killed Hunter's confidence and motivation imo. He'd already lost badly to Usyk; with that on top he mentally checked out. Started just thinking about money as there was no legacy to be had. The Hughie fight falling through twice also didn't help, that could have put him back in some sort of contention if he'd won.

What a joke this Hunter, he was at the top 10 in box rec/ring and now he is nowhere, misfortune of ducking Hrgovic

Definitely not clear. It was close. I scored it 7-5, but 6-6 wasn't a robbery.

He didn’t stop Rahman Jr but I wasn’t too surprised at the result tbh.

i guess not if your a promoter that wants povetkin to fight whyte because you thought it was a lower risk higher reward. It backfired though didnt it?

I doubt it'll count towards either of their records. From what I can gather, it was some weird ass 18 round tournament between two warring factions, both teams with 18 representatives, fighting one round each. Hunter won his round. It looked like a idiotic cluster**** and a half.
