Just watching his last fight against Michael Lozado and notices how he was throwing his right hand strange. He was throwing it this way against JMM but ive never noticed it in previous fights. He throws it really sharp downwards and to me it seems like a follow threw attemped elbow. This is not a attack on Katsidis, he's one of my more respected boxers, just wondering if anyway else has noticed. Just strange how he's started doing it this far into his career and I can't think of another fighter who throws it like that. he's always thrown it like that and he is basically trying to hook it around the guard. on a side note Lozada really needs to retire.
Katsidis looked very good physically. The first time I saw him was against Earl and I think that's the best I've ever seen him.
If u have not seen him throw that punch then u have not seen him fight. Its very odd, but he's been doing it for ages. Me myself thought it was an elbow when I first saw it but he just turns his punches over. I am sure it brings little or no benefits apart from looping round a guard maybe, but I don't know?
I saw it too. Even if he isn't trying to do it on purpose, if he misses with his hand, he will eventually catch them with that elbow.
All of this :good. And as Jack said, Kats looked the best physically than I think I have seen (maybe since Earl as well imo) in awhile. Hopefully Katsidis is re-invigorated since his last two losses.
It looks like it's lacking in power, though. He hit Marquez with it a couple times, but it didn't seem to do any damage at all.
Yea, it seemed like it was just flopping into JMM's face; JMM was making subtle rolls and partial blocks to negate it and look for a counter, or it just wasn't that effective as a power-punch...though it was probably a little bit of both. It's his left hand that carries his power for him. If he were to improve his right hand torque, it would make him a better fighter, I think.
