I remember rumblings of this fight being rumored while both were up and coming, unfortunately it didn’t happen…had it happened, how would have it went down? Would Valero put Mike to sleep or would mike grind out Valero?

Valero was a beast. Katsidis was a good fighter and a pretty tough guy but El Inca Dinamita would have eventually caught him and stopped him. Speaking of Valero, I didn't realize until a few weeks ago that he started his career with 18 first round KOs, two more than Edgar Berlanga. He was pretty freakin' amazing.

Valero was a beast but Katsidis was no slouch either, winning his first 23 fights, 20 by KO. They started out around the same time but at different weights, Katsidis started at lightweight ending up at Welter. While Valero started as feather, moving up to light.

An ideal time for them to fight would have been at LW around the middle of 2006 when Valero was 18-0 with 18 first round KOs and Katsidis was 22-0 with 20 KOs.
What a fight that would have been. I think Katsidis would have dragged Valero into waters he’d never swam in before, and try to drown him. But that would be easier said than done.

Would Katsidis naturally greater size have told in the end or would that unmatched power of Valero’s eventually have flattened Katsidis. I tend to think the latter…Valero by KO in round 10.

Valero's lightweight run didn't last long as it was only three fights, there was also the potential Brandon Rios fight which would have been amazing. I think Katsidis has a pretty good chance here and he would have the size advantage and be naturally stronger than Valero, I can't see Valero sticking to boxing like Marquez did against Katsidis and even then he got caught by Katsidis too.
