i was just wondering that after the weekend result against marquez does anyone over there fear that he will never get the world title he deserves? i like watching katsidis but am starting to think he might be a nearly man. i'd love to hear your thoughts on this
I don't think so, regardless of the age Juan Manuel a future hall of famer and still one of the best pound for pound. Katsidis still has plenty of time of time & with a performance like that he will get plenty of dates on HBO and/or many opportunities but I think eventually he'll bag the title.
Who knows really? His best hope is Juan moves up to face Pacquiao or retires. Keeping active in fights where he's not subjected to as much punishment while waiting for either to happen may well be the best plan of attack.
Katsidis effort, to state the obvious is one he should be immensely proud of. However he just ran into a guy who is a lock for the Hall of Fame once retired and a current 3-weight division champion. The style of fighter Marquez is (beautiful counter-puncher) was always going to present problems for Kat's but 100% props to him for pursuing the best. Kat's still has a tremendous future ahead of him and bouts like Soto, Acosta and Vazquez (other ABC title holders) are more than fantastic bouts to look at for him, keeping him earning good paydays, whilst only adding to his well earned reputation. John Murray from the UK has been spruiked as a likely opponent too and we all know how the UK loves him so going over there and getting solid coin to face an up-and-comer like Murray when Kat's return's might make good business also? HBO love him and won't disregard him on that performance. If he were to face another ABC title holder, he'll be on TV for sure over there, you can count on that. In my opinion, Kat's has been very loyal to the WBO and at times, may have forgone opportunities that with his credentials could have easily been facilitated for vacant titles in other sanctioning bodies (or challenges to other current champions also) and thus become a 'world champion' in his own right (not just interim) and defended on from their accordingly. It doesn't lessen his reputation to have maybe looked at this path as a true champion is one who defends against all-comers and that's one thing that Kat's would deliver on in spades. Anyway, he's an absolute tip-top warrior in my eyes. I'm sure with some smart management/positioning he'll continue to add titles, money, plus great scalps to his already well earned reputation and legacy. Go Kat's! :bbb
In all honestly I seriously fear for Katsidis health going forward. The guy simply takes way too much punishment in the ring. The amount of power shots to the head JMM was able to land in the fight was simply frightening. I'd like to see him retire while his health is still in tact.
I think he could do Casamayor in a rematch, but not too sure about Diaz. Even though it says he lost via a SD to Diaz, I thought Diaz cruised it, and the SD grossly flattered Kat.
It is impossible for any fighter to fight Hall of Fame level guys with the sort of preperation that Katsidis had to endure....rest and grieve properly Mick.....recoup...and see what titles are up for grabs in the new year.
I think Golden Boy will look after Mick in future after what he's been through, the type of bloke he is and the great performances he brings to the table each time. I predict an easy fight in the new year with a ran at the title by years end if JMM most likely out of the picture.
I know Kats doesn't like to make excuses, but did he break his hand in the Diaz fight? I've cited it in discussions, believe I've read Kats has spoken about it, but not wanted to use it as an excuse.
Maybe he needs to retire and be done with it. A face first style of fighting is not condusive to good health later in life
