Anyone remember Michael Maguire. Had a chat with a boxing contact who said he was the biggest waste of talent. I remember him vaguely about 10 years ago but never saw him fight. What was the story with him and why it petered out ?
Yes I remember him, he was an excellent amateur boxed out of Kettering and mates with Billy Joe. Turned pro with Hayemaker but didn't work out for him.... not sure if it was struggles "living the life" with diet etc, could be wrong. Strung some low level wins together as expected when he first turned over but then very surprisingly got stopped with a body shot against a low level type in a fight he was expected to sail through. Don't think he stuck around much long after that. Shame really because as said, he was superb as an amateur.
