I am going to pick Bruno here. Yes, honestly. I think because he is aware of Moorer's dig he boxes in that methodical, mechanical jab/straight punch way he could and simply busts the smaller man up, stopping him at some point after the 8th. I think Moorer is underrated by many, but I also think Frank is. I'll get my coat...
It’s a great match up … anything could happen but Moorer being a southpaw I think would create problems for Bruno along with that southpaw jab … punches going from the other side ? Moorer gets off the deck early and stops Frank late in the 9 th rd !!!!!
I’ll go with Frank here. He’s the bigger guy he’s certainly got the punch to get Moorer out of there and so I think that’s the key. Moorer isn’t of the durability and toughness of Lewis, Smith, Witherspoon and Tyson who all stopped Frank they were able to whether his early assaults and I’m not sure with Moorer. I’m going for Bruno by halfway although if it goes beyond there’s always the chance he’ll blow up and run out of gas, but he showed against McColl he could get through.
Moorer on points or late stoppage, he beat prime Holyfield, he’d constantly land straight lefts on the stiff Bruno, step to the side during exchanges, create angles.
I think the difference is that Vander, one of my favourite fighters ever, just didn't have the concussive power to dissuade Moorer. I think Frank hits him with much more regularity and just as hard as Ol' George did abd subsequently stops him quicker in a much more competitive fight. George was getting pretty comprehensively outboxed and as cute as Moorer could be, I don't think he would do that to Frank. Probably an edge of the seat thrilling contest while it lasted, but one I see Frank eventually prevailing in.
Even with the power, I feel Bruno is too predictable for Moorer, who uses his lighter feet, upper body side to side movement and feints to disrupt Bruno’s rhythm and make himself hard to time, shuffle to the right shoot the jab up diagonally, step to the side to create an angle and land the left, also bait Bruno and counter him, these are the things that would see Moorer having success as Bruno was quite upright and predictable, Moorer couldn’t get lazy as he did against Foreman, as long as he sticks to the game plan, he beats Bruno 7-8/10 times. When he got chinned by Foreman it’s because he thought it was too easy and got lazy by going footed and thinking he can take punches on the gloves, it’s not that he was predictable, he just made himself predictable momentarily
Eh that version of Evan got a bad batch of peds and most likely were those that caused that streak of underwhelming performances he had during those years, most likely were those as well and basically removed him from his prime. Not a bad W but definitely one with a huge asterisk.
