That set of wins is better than anything Bruno put together, really.. and while the second Holyfield fight did end brutally, it was an even-ish fight before the knockdowns.

I give this fight to Moorer because of his high-level skillset, proven ability to rise off the canvas to win and Brunos penchant to lose whenever it mattered.

I think Moore is being vastly undersold here. He's simply better than Bruno in most areas that matter. People are acting like Moore failed in his biggest fights more than Bruno, when in fact it was the complete opposite. Moore comfortable UD or late KO

Holyfield was years past his prime and destroyed him, and had Evander been that well prepared THREE years earlier it would have been worse.. Moorer's wins over Bert Cooper, Alex Stewart, Axel Schultz and Frans Botha weren't any better than Bruno's wins over Oliver McCall, Gerrie Coetzie, Pierre Coetzer, etc.. Only real difference is, Moorer fought life and death with his best opponents. Bruno beat his far more decisively.

Who did he rise off the canvas to beat? Bert Cooper? Everett Martin? A sick Holyfield? And I disagree that his skill set was better than Bruno's. Moorer's defense was garbage and his idea of using "skills" was to trade toe to toe with big hitters - precisely what got him KTFO against Foreman and would have been a bad mistake against Bruno..

Bruno needs to touch that chin once. He has a solid punchers chance in the early rounds

This is a tough one actually. Moorer is very underrated when concerning head to head. I blame David Tua.

Bruno-Moorer could be a barnburner if both come in at their best. Moorer has the better win but Bruno might have the deeper resume by a smidgen. Both have power that could do some damage.

Most likely scenario is Bruno starts off fast and establishes ring control with the jab and single power shots. Moorer would be the more dangerous of the two (with Steward in his corner, the early Moorer) if he decides to make a fight out of it.

I lean towards Bruno but Moorer could also get the job done.

I guess I'm mostly in the minority here, but I think Bruno is in very serious danger of getting Ko'd himself, maybe even more so than Moore via Bruno

I completely agree with you here. Moorer was the more dangerous fighter. The cautious Moorer after leaving Kronk most likely loses to Bruno.

That's probably bad management, in my opinion. To prepare him for the elite fighters he should have fought some decent fringe fighters who tested him and built his experience.
In the first Holyfield fight he proved he was a pretty good fighter, capable of giving an elite fighter a decent battle. But he wasn't ready and was beaten up, but perhaps that could have been a calculated risk. But when they threw him in with Tyson, having not passed any test in the interim, it was obvious they were only interested in cashing him in, not developing him.

He came very close to beating Foreman on my scorecard. I thought that was a draw at least.

Many of those guys were past their bests and out of shape.

Anyway, you're simply underlining my point that Bruno was better managed.
If Stewart was matched a flabby Coetzee or Bugner or Tillis type that would have almost certainly have yielded him a better result/career than being thrown in with prime Holyfield and 1990 Tyson, don't you think?

True. But Moorer was probably as past it as Holyfield, and in worse condition, in 1997. Moorer did actually have some moments of success in the 2nd fight too.
Anyway, Holyfield would have battered Bruno worse.

Moorer was a better boxer than Bruno, just a natural fighter, had faster hands, and was awkward.

Hey, the fight where he lost to Foreman would probably be the best one to see how he'd beat Bruno.

    Agree.
Except I don't think the stoppage would necessarily be that late. Maybe 7 or 8 rounds.

    I agree.

    I agree.

    Absolutely.
I'd EXPECT Moorer to win this by KO.

I think Bruno would simply overpower Moorer.

MM would have to pull out a spectacular performance if he were to outbox Frank and not get caught with a telling punch.

Bruno must be overrated heavyweight of the month here.
A few days ago on another thread people were saying they reckoned he's have blasted Berbick out if he'd challenged him in 1986.
Now he's going to do something similar to Moorer.
If only Bruno was that good.

I think if there's one heavy on here who's not overrated it's Bruno.
Most know his drawbacks and limitations.
