His 3 good wins were against Spinks, Dokes (overrated imo) and agree he was robbed vs Snipes(nor do I rank him as a good fighter) We can add the draw against Pinklon Thomas (if I do not remember bad Pinklon won all the first rounds until exhaustion, similar to the fight against Berbick). I consider Coetzee as well as Dokes one of the worst champions of the 80s, in agreement that taking the first fight against Holyfield the summary of Moorer is quite poor, but the Moorer of the first fight against Holyfield for me surely beats the best Coetzee version
Coetzee-Thomas was excellent. That win might have aged much better if Thomas hadn't let himself go to the weeds in his later career.
Coetzee could smoke an opponent with that right hand. He didn't have to swing for the fences either, he could throw that straight right hand and knock a man senseless. He also had a really good chin. Prior to the Weaver fight, Coetzee had never been down amateur or pro. Weaver crushed him while exchanging right hands, with Weaver landing first. The Page fight was stylistic nightmare for Coetzee. Moorer on the other hand is made to order for Coetzee. Gerrie knocks Moorer senseless in 5.
