I think the Cooney of 1980-81 would beat Moorer by early knockout. The Cooney of the Spinks and Foreman fights would be kayoed by Moorer. Since you are saying the Cooney of May 11, 1981 who blasted out Norton I'll go with GC by 3rd round knockout. Both were enigimas and Moorer obviously had the way more accomplished career. I cannot get his loss to Tua or the Smokin' Bert Cooper fights out of my head though. The early 80's Cooney wins early I believe.

    Cooney KO 3 Moorer

More or less what happen when Cooney boy fought Spinks............ Regardless if Cooney was rusty, or if Moorer was lazy, Moorer was much better at boxing then Cooney ever was.......... Aside from a bad jaw, Moorer was highly skilled.... Cooney was a pawing jabber with a lame right cross....... Cooney's hook was wicked, but, also telegraphed...... Moorer wins as long as he doesn't get clocked......

Moorer was succeptible to getting tagged early, and Cooney would have jumped all over him. I disagree Mr bill Cooney had some underrated skills i thought he hung in their with a prime Holmes for most of the fight. Id say Cooney takes Moorerr within 4 rounds.

Yes, but Moorer was never a sucker for the left hook; just the right cross......... Cooney's cross sucked weenie as a weapon.... oh, sure, it hurt Norton, but Norton was already on ***** street from the hook / hooks...

Good point, i guess being a South Paw benefited Moorer in that circumstance. Im still taking Cooney but if were to go past 6 rounds Moorer would have a shot at ko ing Cooney. He certainly accomplished more than Cooney who could have at least grabbed an Alpahbet title if he didnt sit on ass and watch his prime go away.

I think Cooney could get to him early but no sure thing but I think Cooney's hook and Moorers chin a bad match

Moorer was hurt by a lot of guys. Id give Cooney a punchers chance, but Moorer had the better overall skills, good jab and righthook off the jab.

Yeah, either Cooney lands big and knocks him out or he gets completely out-boxed.
