Good fight. Toney doesnt punch too hard, but probably dismantles Moorer in close, but Moorer looks good in spots. Tough call, could go either way.
Moorer has a combination of hand speed, power, and precision that Toney has yet to see at heavyweight. Toney also does better countering than being the aggressor. Moorer would be content at controlling Toney with his jab, and doing just enough to win. Moorer's jab, and what would be an impressionable difference in impact of landed punches, make it hard for me to see Toney winning many rounds against Moorer. Moorer by clear decision
Moorer has the power and southpaw stance, but James Toney is the better fighter and would win a close SD type fight. This would be a grueling fight.
I favor Moorer. Both were sort of up and down but I feel Moorer was more reliable and just plain better at HW. Toney dicing up an ancient Holyfield isn't going to prove otherwise. Moorer but a beater Holyfield regardless to whatever complicates arose.
With Moorer recently sounding like he may return to the ring, who would you like if they fought now? At their HW best, I'd slightly favor JT. Toney has too many skills and Moorer is there to be hit...
Toney would kill Moorer now. Moorer is fatter than Toney is now and Toney is at least active in the gym. I saw Moorer a couple months ago. Huge belly.
