Both at their heavyweight primes, how does this go?

This would be a good brawl. Moorer did have a kill or be killed attitude. Straight punching, very sound technically, good pop even at heavyweight. His real threats were guys with iron chins... which was not Norton. Kenny brought that crab defense, good pop himself and dogged determination.

It may just be a question of whose chin gets dented sufficiently first. Moorer could get up to win. He was still very dangerous when hurt. I'm going to say that he definitely visits the canvas but will shade to him ending affairs first. And I would not bet a wooden nickel on it.

Moorer would have a significant "first mover" advantage because world class southpaw heavyweights were unheard of when Norton fought. Finding one to spar with to prepare would've been like finding a unicorn with adamantium reinforced bones.

Whether that ultimately means Mike wins or not is another story, but we've seen great orthodox heavies get beat by or struggle with southpaws a level lower upon first exposure because of the unfamiliarity.

These two could drive each other crazy, Moorer with the southpaw stance, and Norton with his weird crab attack. My heart is with Norton, but it could go either way. "Whoever lands first"...everyone's favorite cop- out answer.

I say Moorer in 2 rounds, I think he would start faster than Norton would and would break through his crab defense to land bombs with his southpaw style early, and drop Ken multiple times.

    Moorer TKO 2

I think the Methodical Moorer deals well with Consistancy, Consistancy of Style and/or Pace Give him a Botha Type and he his happy, He would have Loved Leon Spinks, But when an erraticness emerges it can throw his precision off, The Holyfield encounters perhaps highlight this best, An slow pedestrian (Ill) Holyfield gets Mapped and Contained, The Well Frisky Holyfield comes through that Classy Veneer to wreck Havoc , The Wild Bert Cooper almost pulled it off with his wild unpredictable aggression, There's a pattern discernible to me with Moorer

I think Ken could win this with the Uncultured element of his game, those big overhand right hands, As Moorer is not a Quick Pouncer amongst the heavyweight, but likes to "Settle In" it would probably be a boxing match early, but as good as Moorers Jab is, when left to operate at a steady pace, Nortons side on Jab will i think cause him problems as it did many others, but Somewhere along the way i think Kenny is going to Score with one of those Industrial Bowled Over right Hands... and it will Unhinge Moorer.. Then Kenny will cut Loose, as he did after catching Duane Bobick, Moorer, an absolute Dreadnought at Lt Heavy, who reputedly Craved Blood... has a more Fragile outlook against the Predatory Big Boys... I like Norton circa 5th to 7th..

you have to force Norton Back under severe threat... 'Boxing' with him will not work,

Good match-up. Norton is about an inch taller with a 3" longer reach. Their weight is close but Norton was ripped even at 220. At 220 Moorer looks out of shape.

Both have good overall skill and a decent punch, Moorer does it from the southpaw stance even though he is right handed.

I think Norton does enough to get the close decision. I think both fighter get rocked and I could see a knockdown or two by either fighter.

I think Ken Norton was the more skilled of the two men and certainly the better suited for fighting over 200 lbs. Ken didn't have the greatest chin but neither did Moorer and Michael doesn't fit into the category of sluggers who generally backed Norton up. I can see this being a competitive fight but I'm leaning to Ken for the late stoppage or decision.

I think Norton would outlast him in a bruising fight. Ken would parry the jab and work inside. He would soften Moorer up and gradually beat him down.

moorer had an outstanding jab from a southpaw stance, though.

Moorer was the must sharper and somewhat harder puncher. In a battle of chins, these factor are displayed in drastic relief.
