Michael Moorer vs Ken Norton

Too much is made of Moorer as a puncher at Heavyweight imo.

He was a decent hitter granted but nothing compared to what he was at Lt Heavyweight. I can't think of a decent heavyweight he ever stopped.

The Cooper fight was a humdinger but Bert was often stopped and little better than a gate keeper anyway, Botha was brave but limited and Moorer had to struggle mightily to get that stoppage, Jirov was a good Cruiser but didn't do a thing at Heavyweight and Stewart was known for his fragility. The rest of his stoppages at heavy were exclusively against bums and plenty of sturdy but average guys managed to take him the distance.

I doubt Moorer was that much of a bigger puncher than Holmes or Ali at Heavyweight to be honest (30-4-1 17 KO's was his heavyweight record which doesn't indicate anything special about his power at the weight) and he certainly wasn't as good a fighter as either to think he could out box someone like Moorer.

I don't think Norton has too many problems with Moorer and would outwork him early, work him over by the mid rounds and stop a battered and spent Moorer late.
