Alright, this woudl be a good one. Moorer was thought to be a future ATG at this weight at one time. He never quite made it because he moved up in weight. We all know about Saad Muhamed. What would have happened it these two juggernauts met?
Saad had excellent power. I wouldn't be surprised if he starched Moorer in a few rounds; Michael was slow and had bad defence. Not necessarily the kind of fighter that would jump out to an early lead over Saad.
Good fight pairing. Sadd's resiliency is the main factor in this one IMO. Sadd by 11th TKO. Sadd was amazingly TOUGH and determined.
How was Moorer slow? His punches were faster than Saad's, he had a better jab, and he used his jab efficiently. He was overrated at LHW by those who think he'd have been able to have beaten most anyone there, but he was not slow, and was faster than Muhammad for sure, in terms of quickness of shots, especially with the southpaw jab.
I dunno man.Saad wasn't notably fast either, but Moorer had a terribly methodical plodding nature about him- will say it was more his footspeed and reflexes i was thinking of rather than handspeed, which i would say was on about the same level as Saad's. Point being he isn't no quick slick fighter like Conteh or a guy with super workrate and good legs like Yaqui lopez. he was a methodical accurate stalker.Saad should be able to control the pace quite well with his underrated boxing ability, which was imo better than Moorers(watch the Leslie Stewart fight for instance). It's not a good style matchup for Michael IMO.
As strong as Saad was. Moorer was stronger and naturally than Saad/ The fact that Muhamed wasn't a mover plays into Moorer's hand's. Moorer could throw devastating combo's, and I think he would be too strong for Saad and ko him
Moorer, even at LH, never seemed to me like he really wanted to be in the ring. When a fight heated up and a war started, he warmed to the task, but it seemed like pulling teeth to get him to apply himself. I go with Saad by decision -- slight lead early, Moorer rallies when they start exchanging in the middle rounds, Saad in the championship rounds to close the show in what turns out to be a very good but not great fight.
I would love to see a game that shows an accurate simulation of fighters going H2H like Title Bout except where you can see the action.....in 3d. Many factors to consider in this fight. Saad did have boxing skill(he was a boxer-type against Mustafa in a controversial fight and he did not box/slip punches that bad in mid rounds Lopez 2) but he was more accustomed to slugging it out. I'm not sure if Moorer ever fought a puncher at lt hvy like Saad but I do know he stood in front of them mostly if not all the time at hvy but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt at lt hvy since I don't know much about him there. I do know he was always a solid technician with a great jab and very selective punch placement and at ly hvy(maybe overall too) he was a very good finisher so that's not good for Saad if he gets hurt which is a high possibility. I predict he beats up Saad and IF he can take and/or avoid the big shots from Saad he'll win the UD or stop Saad mid rounds. IF he can't take the punches and/or elects to go to war, Saad knocks him out. Moorer being better technician and having the much better accuracy would've made the difference most likely giving him the needed advantage to win. Any big punchers Moorer fought at lt hvy so I can get a better sense of his punch resistance and strategies against punchers?
