If Pinklon Thomas is drug free and well trained as he was in the Tim Witherspoon and Gerrie Coetzee fights then I would pick him to beat Moorer. Thomas had excellent boxing and punching skills with a pretty sturdy chin. In fact I would say he was probably the most underachieved talent of his generation due to his heroine addiction
I see this fight as pretty close best for best. Thomas may have had superior durability though, and that might be the deciding factor. That said if they had met career wise as opposed to in a hypothetical best vs best, Moorer would have probably taken it, because he was better for longer in his career.
I agree with that. Thomas’ prime was very short. His pinnacle was arguably behind him by 1986 or 1987. Not because of age as he was still a young man. But his lifestyle decisions .
