Moorer himself does seem like an odd, contradictory guy.

He usually tended to be very calm to the point of bored disinterest, yet there seemed to be some real rage bubbling away under there too.

I remember, after he beat Holyfield in 1994, journos were wondering who he'd fight next and if he'd go after unification. Yet Moorer himself kept a low profile, did few interviews and suggested he wanted to retire from boxing and become a traffic cop instead.

I'm sure Moorer-Foreman only got signed because Moorer saw George as one of the biggest money-spinners he could get, hastening his chances of retiring.

I think he is underrated, he falls into a bracket of guys who weren't ATG HWs but beat ATG HWs, like:

    Schmelling
    Tunney
    Norton
Johansson (although Patterson maybe not quite a HW ATG)
    Charles
    Willard
    M Spinks
    Douglas
    McCall
    Rahman

    and arguably Frazier/Bowe

Other than Douglas/McCall/Rahman I haven't seen anyone rate him over the others and he probably has a reasonable case to be
