How would you estimate Moorer's punching power at HW on 10 points scale? Or what fighters would you say he had comparable power to?

I think it was obvious from his fights against Bert Cooper and Alex Stewart that he hit harder than Holyfield. His punches had way more impact on both Bert and Alex compared to Evander's ones. Also, he KOed Botha (Briggs couldn't do it for example) and Giant White (was saved by the bell in round 10, but would never be able to beat the count), knocked out very durable Jirov while being years past his prime

    A 5.
His power went down when he went up but he was the Mike Tyson of the Light Heavies.

Don't forget him putting Holyfield on deer legs and stumbling Foreman around the ring with his jab. I think that giving him an 8 is reasonable.

    Above average but not great.
    7-8/10 seems good to me.

Good right hook. He had solid power in that. But i always thought his straight left was weak. He was a converted left hander so he was using his weaker left hand as his power hand. Compared to say Usyk ,who has a strong left, Moorer's straight left didn't cause that kind of damage.

I would say his power was similar to Holyfield except i am inclined to give Holyfield the edge. Holyfield had a pretty good straight right hand while Moorer had a relatively average straight left. Holyfield had a good left hook. Moorer had a very good right hook. I will give the hook edge to Moorer but Holyfield was a better two handed hitter.

I suppose his power is comparable to someone like Holmes. Or Schmeling.

    6.

What he had was tremendous accuracy. And a guy with decent power but lands those 3 punch combos to different parts of an opponent's torso is hard to deal with. He had under rated or under appreciated handspeed as well.

Plus the other thing that is seldom looked at is he was the smaller guy fighting bigger guys. So Michael had a bigger target than when he was a lh. Conversely, the bigger guys are trying to connect on a smaller target.

Not easy things collectively to overcome. More along the lines of difficult to very difficult to overcome.

Moorer's power is less than all the lineal champions of the 90s (Tyson-Douglas-Holyfield-Bowe-Moorer-Foreman-Briggs-Lewis).
I'm only counting Tokyo Douglas here, not Holyfield Douglas.
    Moorer wouldn't knock out Tyson.

He was a vicious ******* for sure. One punch power wasn't his thing in my opinion though. Even the second Holyfield fight when he was out of shape he was still throwing down. I would loved to have seen him against Chris Byrd, that would have been a very intriguing fight. And at his best I think he would have battered David Tua. That's just how great his era was, that a guy like that kinda flew under the radar

I think he's quite a bit stronger than you might think. He hurt Holyfield much more than Tyson, Mercer, or Lewis did.

I don't think he'd knock out Mike, but he's a lot stronger than people think he is. Watch that check hook right before the end of round 1.

Extremely overrated. Above average would be about right.

His punches had way more impact on Cooper and Alex Stewart compared to Evander's. And Holyfield was above average puncher at HW

His jab was decent, right hook was also great. For a southpaw his straight left wasn’t his best punch which you would kind of expect fighting against mainly orthodox stance fighters. He had decent power I think. 7/10. He had Holyfield on rubber legs multiple times in their 20 odd rounds.

I am typing this from The Chauvet Cave Club and I cannot hear your comment over the surreal coolness, because, damn, it is loud. But if what you are saying is half as important as what I think I am saying then it is only half as cool. And I don‘t disagree.
