calaghe had a longer prime but it was never close to the prime Nunn had, who would quite possibly stop joe after some one sided battering and a late desperate rally by joe. ironically, if nunnn hadn't gone to jail then Calzaghe might well have signed to fight a 45 year old Nunn, since Joe has a proven track record for waiting till legends age before daring to face them - in those circumstances joe would have probably scraped a life and death split decision by late rally after being outboxed and dropped in the first losing half of the fight. If anyone has a problem with me saying that Joe has a proven track record for fighting old legends then you should take it up with Joe, he is the one who did it, not me. Its not my fault that he made a habit of it in that special cowardzaghe way.
LMAO! You are a special kind of ******ed. Nunn couldn't punch? Dude, Nunn had more power than Joe! And his chin wasn't questionable at ALL. Why? Because of the Toney fight? Toney caught him with a PERFECT left hook after wearing him down to the body all fight long. Calz NEVER had the type of power Toney had. Nunn at his best was faster than Joe, more skilled, more power, better defense, EVERY ****in THING! And yeah, the P4P ratings are only a joke to you because CrapZagge was NEVER considered a top 3 P4Pder. Nunn was a legit top fighter in an era where Tyson, Chavez, Whitaker, and Taylor were all in their primes. Kill yourself with that "He was only tall, and fast" crap.
calzaghe wins in one way - when he would only dare face 45 year old Nunn, and would win by SD through life and death and getting beaten and dropped till Nunn gassed out due to his age. the cowardzaghe way, joe always found a cowardzaghe way to win.
so yes prime joe can win but only by cowardzaghe SD after gassing out 45 year old Nunn. and he would sue the fight as an excuse for running from a mandatory versus Froch, which his fanboys would be dumb enough to beleive.
JC - Better speed in combinations/flurries, Better Stamina/Workrate, Better outside game when he fought behind his right shoulder, could adjust, better mid range fighter because lets his hands go, better chin. He also hurt kessler to head and body, so he can hurt Nunn. JC clear UD 116-112, takes it in the last 4/5 rounds
no joe cannot win, he needs to wait till nunn is 40something, you clearly do not understand the cowardzaghe way. go and learn.
You're right thats why he wins more than 3 rounds, but he's no JC either, Nunn would be outworked in the exchanges
post prison when 40soemthing, yes this is true. (and allowing for him to leave prison, I believe). the true cowardzaghe way.
This is the only question that stands out to me that I have issue with. There was 17 years between Nunn losing to Toney, and Calzaghe beating Jones. It isn't like they all fought back to back and Joe was the last man standing. And even if they did, Nunn was a very talented tall, slick southpaw, styles make fights, it wouldn't be a given Calzaghe wins, even though I would probably pick Joe. Roy fought plenty of southpaws, but for some reason or another did not fancy a fight with Nunn, even though he schooled Toney who knocked Nunn senseless.
Hi mate, I've got a quick question for you, off topic. (I hope nobody minds) What do you think would have happened, if Nunn had've fought Mike McCallum at MW? It's on the Classic section. Thanks. :good
