OK, first thought is probably Nunn is leagues above JJ. But this fight /time frame maybe shortens the gap a little.? May 1991. Instead of fighting Toney, Nunn has a unification ft with Hard Hitting Julian Jackson. Anyone pickin Jackson??
Nunn for me. I thought Nunn by this stage had almost become a little bored, and his performances reflected that. The Barkley fight should never have been that close, for example. Nunn just didn't look that motivated, at least, not compared to when he was coming up. Then he ran into Toney. Julian unfortunately was no James Toney. I watched in alarm at how easily Herol Graham was beating Jackson for 3 rounds. He was almost toying with Jackson at times. Okay, Jackson swung for the fences and managed to land in the fourth, but it demonstrated that Jackson was vulnerable. That's the only way I can see Jackson winning this; landing something big on Nunn and ending it there and then. Nunn did like to brawl a little, which I never understood since he never had to, and I suppose there is the off chance he runs into something, but for me it's a slim, slim chance. If Nunn had any tactical sense, he'd just use his speed and longer arms to confound Jackson, and he easily has the capacity to do that. I'd go for Nunn by pretty comfortable decision, mindful that Jackson can potentially end it at any time. I just don't think Jackson stands a chance if Nunn can remain disciplined.
That's it, if Nunn can remain disciplined. He also could potentially stop Jackson, maybe same way has Herol Graham came close to doing. But I'll go with Nunn by close decision win, but really it' could turn out an upset.
A big misconception is Jackson could only punch but he had more skills than given credit for. That said, Nunn was special. Nunn late tko
