Between the 2 tricky southpaws how do you see this match up play out? You have the taller, rangier, and slicker Michael Nunn against the highly defensive Winky Wright who has a great jab. Nunn would be the one on the move while Wright presses forward, either in a fascinating chess match or a boring snoozefest. A much smaller former WW Marlon Starling (who was similar to Wright style wise) made Nunn look terrible, so I wonder if Wright would also pose a more complicated fight for Nunn. Might have to lean towards Nunn. His peak was much higher than Wright but was less consistent IMO.
Good match up actually. It could turn out a little like Nunn V starling to be honest but I belive more competitive. Nunn went through a stage where he seemed content to just do enough to win. Barkley fight, the scoring was closer than I expected and I thought Nunn may have stopped Marlon. So it could be much closer than it ought to be, if you get my meaning. I don't see an upset but I think Wright comes out with high praise and Nunn gets criticism. Maybe a split decision?
I'm going with Nunn by close but clear decision. I don't think Winky can pull a Toney-like upset but he would certainly cause enough trouble, and negative fight enough, to make this competitive. I just think Nunn's offense is too superior and catch the judges' eyes.
Prime Nunn would DOMINATE a 160 pound Winky Wright. He may or may not stop Winky, but, this fight would not be close.
I lean toward Nunn also. I think he is bigger and I could see how his leg movement was better than Winky's so I think that gives him more options.
