Yes, and he should go in as the betting favorite.

I don't see it. Not the 96 Tua.

I could see Spinks outboxing the fat slob Tua of the 00s, but the 96 Tua who was in-shape catches Spinks at some point and knocks him senseless.

You have to make them respect your power at the top level and Tua would not respect Spinks's power at all and would not have to and would beat him within 3 rounds imo
*Edit I no longer agree with this take, Spinks on points.

The Spinks before he had knee problems would beat Tua in my opinion. Bryd didn't have any power and was able to beat Tua with his ability. I get that it probably wasn't prime Tua that Byrd beat but again, Spinks went 30 rounds with Holmes who was 1000 times better than Tua. Tua has a punchers chance but that's it.

He'd probably go in as the favorite anyway. I don't think Spinks was ever a big favorite against any of his heavyweight opponents?
Can't even recall if he was underdog against Cooney.
But yes, hed be something like a 40 to 1 underdog here! When did that ever really put off the Jinx.

    Don´t see it too.

Spinks could jinx winning some rounds, but Tua might get to him and stops it. Its a question of when.

Spinks Boxes circles around Tua. Boxers were his Kryptonite. “Jazzy” Jeff Wooden a very middle of the road heavyweight who lost all his big fights was out boxing Tua for stretches. Wooden was nowhere near the Boxer Spinks was. Maskaev was ahead of Tua on the cards before getting stopped in 11. Rahman boxed him silly twice, he got caught late in the first fight (after the bell) and the next round brought a questionable stoppage, Rock was miles in front on the cards, he had won all but 1 round on two of the cards. Prime Spinks is too smart too conditioned and too slick. Nothing against Tua but Spinks won’t stay still and bang with him. If you stand with Tua he can be lethal. He will keep David guessing and pile up points with his jab and awkward attacks. I can see his jab really bothering Tua and being the most important punch in this bout.

It’s a doable task but a highly treacherous one. Tua’s chin was among one of the very best and while Spinks’ power was a terror at light heavy, this wasn’t quite the case above 200 lbs. Hence Michael would be stuck with this guy for 10 or 12 or 15 rounds. This creates a rather large window of time to get hit with some of those devastating bombs Tua was capable of landing... When it comes to skill, prowess, greatness and all that good stuff Michael towers over Tua... But sometimes a big shot could send all that down the trash.

It's hard to say. He retired before we ever got to see him do much as a boxer.
