At LHW Chad Dawson Old Bernard Hopkins Andre Ward Carl Froch Lucian Bute Tavoris Cloud Mikkel Kessler Beibut Shumenov Nathan Cleverly At HW Aging Wladimir Klitschko Old Vitali Klitschko David Haye Alexander Povetkin How does he fare?
2012 Vitali? Might win. Anything earlier in his comeback, I'm guessing it's too much. Prime Vitali, not a chance. Volo over the past 6-8 years? No. Plain and simple. Povetkin conditioned like the Huck fight? Spinks probably beats him, actually. Povetkin conditioned like the Chambers fight? Might lose but I'll take Holmes I's Spinks over him. I think what he did with Chambers and Huck is adequate cause to think that someone of Spinks' caliber probably makes up for the natural size difference, even over a good Povetkin, who I think when he's on, he's a very good heavyweight. I'd have to favour him over all the 168-175 crowd. I don't see anyway not to at least favour him, really. And I believe our current 175-king gets absolutely pasted by Spinks, as does old Hopkins, Pascal and whoever else there. Ward is the only 168er good enough to make me think he'd pose an interesting challenge. Cloud beat old Glen Johnson, having weight issues I'd never seen him with, but by the very skin of his teeth at that, in my opinion. I mean, I really thought he just barely pulled a win out on my card, over a Glen Johnson in his forties, with weight problems. Pascal, getting schooled and KD'd by Bernard Hopkins on the south side of his forties, no. None of those guys. Ward and Vitali might be the only ones that would turn out truly interesting. Edit: I've missed Haye. He might be interesting too. He's that rare combination of dangerous and flawed that would be a real question mark to a great light heavyweight coming up.
At LH, he beats them all. At HW, he beat Poventkin, and has a good chance against Haye. Old Vital may be too big for him, and Wlad is too young and strong.
I would bet on him against Haye......not sure about Spinks vs Povetkin. At LHW he is greater than anyone right now so I would favor him.....I hope in some years we can say Ward vs Spinks is a 50-50 fight.....
At LightHeavyweight he beats them all. Not so sure at heavyweight, but I see him beating evreyone but the Klitschko's fairly easily.
He'd be top man at LHW, ditto at cruiser, not sure he'd try HW, the top HW's are on average considerably bigger than they were in the 80s, and the reigning champ is not a creaking, tired, 35 year old Larry Holmes who was in real decline.
Flea Man, you have a point here, but he's still considerably bigger and stronger and a physically harder fight than Holmes was when Spinks moved up - wouldn't you agree?
He dominated a better light heavyweight division than the current one , he would even be more dominant against today's lesser light heavies, at HW i think he would beat Haye and Povetkin , The Klitshkos would be hard cause of their size and would probably be the favorites but i wouldnt rule out Spinks to pull it of and would give him a good chance against the current version of Vitaly.
Absolutely agree he's no Holmes...I just think the sheer size and physical strength of Vitali would be too much for Spinks to overcome; I think we would agree it's probably too close to wager much either way...
Dominates the lightheavies and cruisers.Just on a different plane.Dunno about the prime Klitchkos though.Their size and reach might be too much.I believe he'd beat any of the other heavies.
