I think it's very close in terms of who was better, legacy wise Spinks gets the nod but in terms of who's better, very close. I actually think the Holyfield Moorer went 1-1 with was probably better than the Holmes that Spinks, in reality, went 1-1 against. In terms of ability as LHWs and HWs, very close and I think they probably beat and lose to the same opponents each beat/lost too

As far as power Moorer probably hit harder at LH than Spinks and stronger..But that wouldnt make a idfferece Spinks to cagey and hit daman hard himslf at LH to let anyone walk him down....... But in every other category hes not even on Spinks level.. Moorer was a big and mean LH but he was in love with his power and solely relied on that,,, He had Steward trainiing him then and a long amaturer background but he ignored usomg them,..

Spinks at that weight is all wrong for the young Michaell Moorer... Known for his spinks jinx power and range, but could also outbox just about anyone at LH... Moorer only had a plan A. when he was at LH... Spinks could beat you whatever way he wanted, He had plan A,B.C.D or all of together if you want..

You might say Moorer has a punchers chance but Spinks was awkward, slippery, and would take note of Moorers power,,At best he might hurt or rock hiim, cant see a ko for Moorer ... Besides Spinks had a oood chin anyways at LH.

Moorer comes out gun blazing and catches the slow startin Spinks by suprise with his agressiveness and big punches,,, But Spinks doesnt engage in a slugfest and fights conservative the frist few rounds.. Moorer doesnt land a whole lot but gets the rounds on by pressin and doing more than Spinks.. he stuns brieflywobles Spinks in the 4th but SPinks slips, holds and shakes it off . .. By the midrounds Spinks has got Moorer southpaw power punching style dow pat and landing more shots and slipping Moorers.. He gets thru drops and hurts Moorer.. save by the bell... Spinks dont get to excited andisn out classing MOorer.. Knowing its a matter of time before the Ko comes... It ocmes by wayof Spinks Jinz... Moorer bravely fights back but, Spinks puts the finishing touches on.............Spinks Ko 11 at LH

Moorer wasnt a big hw but not that small either... He was a naturall 220lb stronger and much more bulker than SPinks.... Spinks was slender and somewhat pudgy at 210.. BOth guys style changed a bit... SPinks was slick awkward, and hard to pin down, average punch at best...I remember average puncher Holmes shook him up with one punch a couple times but too faded to put the finishing touches on the sluper slick Spinks..At HW Spinks was Slippery and unpredictable like a big Pernell. thats why he avoided punishment at HW(until Tyson).... Moorer no longer an aggressive gun slinger..THrew hard shots and hit hard but boxed more and had an excellent Jab...

AT hw this is a much more even matchup... With Moorer with Moorer having the skills and boxing ability to land moe than one at at ime....BUt Spinks wa also that much more defensive... Moorer huts Spinks early but Spinks avoids getting kod.. After this .Spinks is not takng chaces and althogh Moorer wins a few rounds Spinks takes a lead up into the mid late rounds..Moorer finaly catches and drops Spinks,,But Moorer lets his chance slip by.... Moorer tended to be lazy and passive at times as a hw.,which was his weakness sometimes..... FIght is razor close now with the knocdwown but Spnks outhustles and manages to Rock Moorer late too... SPinks by close but well desrved decision.

It is a bit of a mismatch at 175, Spinks would dominate.

At Heavy it would of been a lot closer, but still the Spinks that beat Holmes and Cooney, should edge the Moorer who beat Holyfield.

I always thought Moorer became very lazy at Heavyweight. And perhaps not for his bank balance, but a move Cruiserweight first, would of made him a better fighter in the long run.

The '94 Holyfield from Moorer I clearly sucked. He was listless, lethargic, injured & had a heart problem. Even with a torn rotator in his left shoulder & a collapsed left ventricle of the heart... i still thought the listless Holyfield edged it. The most energetic Moorer looked in that fight, was celebrating his questionable decision. If Holyfield hadn't fired Steward, i swear Manny wouldn't have let him fight anyone that night.

Moorer was not a physically strong Lt. Heavy from what I've seen. A powerful puncher, yes, but strong, no. He was basic as a technician (didn't really let the hands go unless he had an opponent hurt, would stay by his jab for the most part, was too squared up, easy to turn, etc.), very exploitable defensively, and not the most durable at the weight.

I've no doubt Spinks would've layed into him within the first 4-5 rounds. The same goes for the Muhammads, Conteh, Galindez, Marvin Johnson, etc. I actually think someone like Jones Jr. would've put a clinic on him, although he'd more than likely do so in a safety first manner.

Different classes of fighter if you ask me. I suppose Moorer was more solid as a Heavyweight, but I still tend to think Spinks was too varied a boxer to have lost to him. He might go the decision route here, though.

I voted for the same winners, but by decisions.

I think Moorer could KO Spinks at heavyweight and I think Spinks could KO Moorer at light heavy, and I can understand why someone would vote such, but I also tend to think that each match could have unfolded into a see-saw battle that lasts the duration.
