Obviously aside from the obvious (Holmes), whom would be his best chance, and whom would he have NO CHANCE against?
I agree. I give him 0 chance against Tyson, Liston, Foreman I have a fleeting thought he'd do OK against Louis. But that feels like an abomination to the great Bomber. but in terms of the thread, I'd give him a decent shot. Spinks and Holyfield would've been awesome.
Can't see him doing too well against many of the usual top-10-15 suspects. Not if it's against them at their peak.Holmes was quite well declined in that first fight.
That's a great fight for me. As is Holyfield, Walcott, Dempsey, and Marciano. Spinks wasn't the small LHW moving up that Charles/Moore was.
Truthfully, I think that if he had spent the majority of his career as a heavyweight, he'd be one of the weaker champions or perhaps even not a champion at all. The man wasn't made for that division. Plain and simple.. Sure I could see him as being a contender in any heavyweight era, and even a title holder in some of the less competitive ones.. But he's not beating many all time greats in their primes.
Well he beat a what, 36 year old Holmes. I reckon he could outpoint the Ali who beat Leon Spinks. He could also probably beat the Louis who lost to Ezzard Charles. He would stand an excellent chance against the Johnson who lost to Willard. And if you dragged Marciano out of retirement three years after he retired, Spinks might outpoint him too.
I really think the only true great HW he could have and did beat was Holmes, Maybe Buster and Rahman...But other than that he fought Holmes like ive never seen anyone fight Larry....Great performance by Spinks.
