I don't think so, Spinks is a different type of fighter than Max. I can see Spinks doing fairly well before the stoppage though.

It's that old styles thing, I get where your coming from here.
The biggest chance Spinks s has imo is, Joe taking him very lightly, not training and basically getting the leg over everywhere he can.
Spinks akward style could really have Louis lookin bad.
Now whenever he can lay it on Louis and dismantle him like Schmeling?? It's an big ask, but do belive its his best chance.

The first Schmeling fight when Joe was undertrained and lacking focus? Absolutely, he could. Spinks is at least on a par with Billy Conn who gave a much better version of Louis fits and could have beaten him.

And what happens if Spinks is able to land like Conn did? Joe would be in a lot more trouble with Spinks' firepower incoming than when the relatively light hitting Conn wobbled him.

The Louis of the first Schmeling fight is a very winnable match up for Spinks. Michael had all the tools except maybe chin. He'd have to be awkward and offset Joe's rhythm but he could do that with his awkward style.

You'd normally favour Joe but the green, unfocussed version gives Michael a very good chance. The Louis of Schmeling 2 is a different matter but that's not the premise of the original post, as I understand it.

Poor Spinks. He acts cute for two rounds, but in the third ends up getting caught with Louis' first flush combination. Good night, Spinks.
