Michael Spinks V Vitali Klitschko?

I think Michael Spinks is an equivalent of Byrd, but I don't like taking "lucky" cuts into consideration in hypotheticals

I'll take Vitali by clear UD, Spinks might be too timid and gun-shy here

 

Spinks probably gets beaten down until Klitschko quits when he hurts his shoulder.

Spinks has a chance here. Vitali is not exactly fleet of foot. Kind of hard to envision this fight. Vitali should win based on his enormous size advantage. But, you never know. I consider Spinks a superior fighter than Byrd. Even at Heavyweight.

 

I think Vitali takes this one pretty easily and stops Spinks late on. I've never been that impressed with Spinks any higher than 175. Deserved the win against Larry first time out, but Larry was looking pretty old and gun-shy in there by that point. I think the decision in the rematch was dubious and I don't particularly rate his wins over Tangstad or Cooney. The less said about his showing against Tyson, the better.

Brilliant, brilliant Light-Heavyweight, but nothing more than serviceable as a Heavy for my money.

Vitali did quit vs Byrd, but redeemed himself later on. To be charitable to VK, he grew up in the Soviet system and he may not have fully understood the implications of quitting a fight in the pro game.
He got a lot of stick for the Byrd defeat so it made him a wiser man.

Michael was an ATG at light heavy and a brave fighter with an odd style. He got a past-prime Larry at HW in 1985 who probably deserved the decision in their second fight.

Vitali is simply too big and combine his size with a genuinely great defensive nous that Spinks will need to overcome ... I can't see him doing so. Vitali wins this.

 

Michael Spinks before his knees were shot would school Vitali. However, the broken down version of Michael Spinks with two shot knees that fought Tyson for a quick payday on the other hand would be easy pickings for Vitali.

 

Nah, Spinks played on his awkwardness and herky Jerky movement as a heavyweight and it worked until he was run over by the Tyson express but against Vitali he would be fighting someone just as awkward looking and unconventional as himself, only Vitali was bigger, stronger and more aggressive as well.

 

Vitali wins this imo .

 

Which prime heavy of any class did Spinks ever school?

 

Spinks would outspeed Vitali in route to a UD.Vitali is a bit to robotic for spinks .
