I’ll take spinks to win this fight by decision. He’s one of the few guys who can match Jimmy in awkwardness and being a light heavy doesn’t put him at any disadvantage given that Young has no devastating power.
I'm going with Michael Spinks Ossie Ocasio's awkward style was able to get two W's over Jimmy Young, i don't see why Spinks can't replicate that with his own awkward style and win a decision.
George Foreman, Ron Lyle, and Ken Norton are heavy handed fighters who had a problem getting past the awkward defense of Jimmy Young, this could prove a problem for Michael Spinks. Larry Holmes was not a problem for Spinks but remember no excuses for Larry, but he was far from his peak years as champion, 1978-1982, he struggled with good competition beyond those years. Other fighters did suffer from exhaustion trying to penetrate that awkward defense of Young's. Even though Ken Norton scored a split decision win on Nov 5 1977 in a WBC elimination fight, Ken was severely exhausted as was Lyle and Foreman. Michael Spinks was devastating as Undisputed World Light Heavyweight Champion but he would be fighting a prime Jimmy Young. Young barely edges this one by a split decision as Jimmy time and again evades the devastated Spinks Jinx. I know I may get an argument on my analysis but Spinks will be fighting a prime heavyweight here.
Jimmy by SD. Don't see him having major advantages over Michael, and depending on the timing, politics could get involved.
Both fine fighters but the style mesh would not make for a very entertaining fight. Very...,very hard one to call but I'm going for the naturally bigger man to win a close decision - Jimmy Young.
Follow the money. And Young never was the house fighter or had the big money behind him.. So he loses the decision here in a dreadful bout.
