I don't like Joe's chances here. You might aswell have made an Ezzard Charles vs. Joe Calzaghe thread, since you're looking for a Joe loss.
Michael Spinks had an awkward but effective style,he could jab,Move and mix it up. He had fast hands and serious power and was always in shape all that combined to make him one of the best light heavyweights of all time, IMO he would be too much for Joe C who never did much at 175 he outboxes Calzaghe before stopping him with "The Jinx" around the tenth round.
Was going to type up a proper response until I saw this, is this a debate or have you started this as a wind up?
This isn't meant to be a debate. Obviously, anybody who was either around to watch Spinks at 175, or has taken the time to study Spinks at 175 would pick Spinks. Additionally, even Joe Cal's most ardent supporters (outside of the known fanboys) would assert that Joe Cal's days at 175 occurred at the tail end of his career. So, you would be taking a legitimate all time top 3 light heavyweight and pitting him against a faded guy whose best days were at 168. This thread is intended to make the obvious nuthuggers (Bailey, etc.) further bury themselves.
I was going to do a proper write up of what I thought would happen, but yeah basically Spinks would smoke Calzaghe. Spinks in my opinion is the best fighter H2H at 175, he went undefeated in one of the strongest eras of the division. The amount of criticism he gets for the Tyson KO is unfair, he was well past his best, inactive and way above his prime weight, against the best version of Tyson to ever step into the ring.
silly thread though, is someone taking the **** or what? Spinks is an ATG, would crush a guy from the lower weight.
The Road Whiner gets battered, and stopped. After Spinks knocks him out, Johnson whines that he was robbed.
