This was nearing his end at Light Heavyweight, and in typical Spinks fashion, he loses the early rounds, and then everything changes in a heart beat. I remember watching this on live television in 1985. I was working that day, as a busboy in a restaurant. The ***** hostess/manager kept getting mad at me for watching the television, but I had to watch it, because it was Mike Spinks live and I couldn't miss that. Anyway, I remember being really impressed with Sears's performance during the first two rounds. I thought Sears had a lot of talent as I watched the bout. Next thing you know, Spinks had thrown his "Spinks Jinx" and it was all over. Amazing. Fast. After that, I didn't have to listen to the ***** hostess/manager anymore, and I got back to work. Spinks kept his work short, and I didn't get fired from my job.
