Charles was beyond shot then. He beat him before when he already was past his prime. Prime Charles was from 1940s, not 1950s.

The only thing history isn't going to treat well is your comparison of Wilder to Bob Fitzsimmons after Fury rematch.

Nonsense. Seven months after Marciano. Charles was younger than Wilder is now. And Charles won the return.

That's Ezzard when he wasn't fighting guys like Gus Lesnevich and Pat Valentino and Joey Maxim and Lee Oma and Nick Barone and other guys who wouldn't even be heavyweights today.

Wilder is an all-time great puncher on a slight frame. So was Bob.

Spinks had as much of a chance against Wilder as Bob Foster had against Frazier.

Charles being younger than Wilder now doesn't really matter. Age curve has shifted drastically in recent years. Boxing after 30 you were considered old for the most part.

Wilder isn't exactly considered young. People say he'll retire if he loses at the end of the year.

So he was going to beat Wilder when he was actually a light heavyweight? (LOL)

You guys need to call it a day.

Wilder KO Spinks. And Wilder bounces Charles out of there as well.

    :loel:

Imagine using a Lou Gehrig's ridden Charles, AFTER Marciano and acting like it's representative of his chin. That's embarrassing.

So he was ridden with Lou Gehrig's when he fought Marciano, too? Can you box for FIVE years RIDDLED with Lou Gehrigs?

Stick a cork in it George.

Wilder KO Spinks. Wilder KO Charles. Wilder KO Andre Ward. Wilder KO Bob Foster. Wilder KO every freaking guy who peaked at light heavyweight in history.

Wilder has never lost a decision. And Wilder has knocked out everyone he's faced but the 270 pound, 6'9" current World Champion.

Michael Spinks and his bad knees at the end of Spinks' career weren't going to turn the trick.

You guys are high as kites. Don't think FOR A MOMENT I won't be bumping this thread REPEATEDLY in the months and years to come. (LOL)

    You guys are lost.

No, he had traits going into Marciano, and then it was obviously much worsened in the beating he took in the rematch, and the war they had in the first fight. It's actually not that hard to figure out.

And you're calling the Marciano fights as if that's a prime Charles, Ezzard was several years past it BEFORE the first fight.

No, you're right; he hasn't ever lost a decision. He should have, but he hasn't. H
But he been out-boxed by plenty of guys who aren't as good as Charles, Spinks, Tunney, Moore and about 50 other LHWs. Not that you'll admit it.

Stick a cork in it Dubble.

Hmmmm.... I'm one who thinks Wilder was/is massively overrated and is a KO waiting to happen vs. any top 10 contender in his prime that at least has solid power.

Based on being even with opponents like Szpilka ( Before landing a bomb ) who had similar height and reach with Spinks, you could argue Spinks could win a decision. I tend to think Wilder is just too tall and long, and Spinks would be gun shy to engage. So I would pick Wilder via TKO or winning a close one on points.

Seriously? Charles had around 100 fights against the best in the world when he met Holman. Wilder fight much less and against much worse comptetition. Age by itself is just a number. Charles was shot after 1st Marciano fight and he was already past his prime then

That's the only thing they have in common. Fortunately, Fitz knew how to box and knew how to adjust to different opponents.
