At 175 and at heavyweight. Who wins? Remember, Charles at heavy was only in the 180s, Spinks was 200-205.

The Cincinnati Cobra vs The Spinks Jinx sounds okay in the catogory of nicknames except for the two "The"s.

As far as the fight goes I would say Ezzard beats the living hell out of Spinks but then im folowing my heart on this one.

Toss a coin at any weight. Two amazing fighters. Ironically both could be a touch lazy in there and only go as hard as they had to, or in Spinks case at times cruise until he was hammered hard then shake out of it and KO the poor guy.....pronto.

Best for best I picked Charles to barely win a close decision. But it would be one VERY close fight and extremely tactical

Michael Spinks only lost in his career to peak Mike Tyson, so I voted for Michael Spinks. But it would be a very difficult night for Spinks. Spinks wins SD.

    At light heavy its Charles.

I haven't seen enough footage of Charles although I know his resume is exceptional full of ATG's and Hall Of Famers.

Spinks himself has a very good resume at Light Heavyweight, and had one of the most impressive title reigns beating plenty of very good dangerous fighters.

I rate Spinks very highly H2H at Light Heavyweight possibly top 5 of all time, but as I said I haven't enough of Charles in his prime so I can't really make a prediction either way.

I think it would be awfully hard not to rate Spinks top 5 H2H DP. I think loads of people have him top 3 and better.

Not sure, maybe I don't see many beating Charles at light heavy and Charles did better at heavy for me.
There's not a great Deal between em at Heavyweight tho I will say.

This is how I see it,Fergy. A disgrace that Ezzard never got a shot at the Lt.Heavy title as he was arguably the greatest 175lb man of all time. Even greater than Spinks,Foster, and Moore.

A very good heavyweight. One of the best of the first half of the 20th century. Just over the first half of the century actually. I would say one of the best top 10 pre 1960s.

    Certainly is mate.
I'm just glad he gets some respect by most on here, he really deserves it.

Hard to say. I was raised like many were that Ezzard Charles was the greatest light heavy ever, on par with Ray Robinson. Sentiments that now that I don't necessarily agree with..
Spinks had an awkward style, with a big punch. He had other abilities and could box too and could fight tactically. Only Tyson beat him at heavyweight.
It would be a good fight. Spinks could punch too and this would be interesting.

I think you saying LHW would favour Charles more than at HW, makes sense. The 6ft Charles was barely over 180lbs at his peak at HW. The naturally bigger, 6ft 2.5ins Spinks was 200-212lbs at HW. Regardless of who you'd make the favourite, I feel saying Spinks would do better at HW than LHW is reasonable on this basis.
