I can see prime Tyson getting rid of Ingo in 91 seconds.

So can I, but that has SFA to do with how thin Spinks' resume is at heavy. Tyson was the only prime ATG he fought. Actually Tyson was the only prime fighter he fought period.

Probably even quicker. Every time that Patterson put Johansson down, it was over, and Tyson was more precise, even stronger, and a much faster finisher than Floyd. The knockout of Spinks would look like child's play compared to Mike's ripping of Ingo.

Huh? Johansson wasn’t done in their second fight until he was knocked cold. He was dropped multiple times over the course of their second & third fights before succumbing.

A lot gutsier than Spinks pretending to be out of it vs Tyson with a level of acting Calista Flockhart would be embarrassed by.

Huh, you're right. I don't know what I was thinking of, then.

Obviously, Tyson still takes him out much quicker, but not as fast as I was imagining- Nor as I was misremembering.

    Certainly Tyson massacres Johansson, yes.

    Only @HomicideHank will disagree :D

Spinks in what appears to be a close but still one-sided fight...

Norton was ranked in the top 10 when Cooney beat him he probably got the ranking for a solid win over Cobb who was coming off beating Shavers.

Even if Norton was past his prime I think any version of Norton gets stopped in a few rounds by Cooney.

Spinks did take a pretty flush right hand from Holmes in the 14th round of their 2nd fight and stood up to it. Although it has to be said Holmes was also gassed and didn't have the energy to follow up on it.

Jimmy Young wasn't knocked out by Cooney it was stopped on cuts.

Lyle had already been stopped in 2 rounds by journeyman Lynn Ball.

Norton had already been basically KO'ed on his feet by fringe contender Scott LeDoux.

Brian London pretty much stopped Ingemar Johansson at the end of their fight. Johansson was in terrible shape and couldn't continue very lucky to be saved like Norton was vs LeDoux.

That's why I always say Chavez vs Taylor fight was a BS stoppage theres been plenty of other fighters in much worse shape been allowed to continue at the end.

    Norton vs Cobb
    Johansson vs London
    Bute vs Andrade 1

If it was Chavez in same position no way Steele would've stopped the fight.

Ingo weighed close to 200 lbs. for his fights with Patterson so he was a fairly hefty guy for the times and Spinks weighed 200 for his 1st title fight with Holmes so that part is pretty even. I guess the key question is how much power did Spinks carry as a heavyweight? He had awesome power as a light-heavy but not so much as a heavy. Spinks was taller and much more awkward, throwing punches from all angles. Patterson dropped and KO'd Ingo, knocking him cold in the 2nd fight but did Floyd punch harder than Spinks? Spinks is all around better so I'll stick with my earlier choice of him winning but I do have respect for Ingo's power. Would be a very interesting fight.
